Good National Article this Morning NOT bashing UT fans

Thanks for posting. Staples nailed this situation far better than most of the media has done so far.

Gotta think this was directed at Herbie:

Another issue Sunday was what appeared to be an effort by some of the most influential voices in college football’s media corps to tell Tennessee fans to shut up and accept the hire.

Yeah. Tennessee fans are tired of cheap hires and this one had some baggage.. This one is on Curry. It's part of the problem too. Curry hasn't been here for the last 10 years. He grossly misjudged the mode of the fanbase. Another thing that says he's disconnected is that was the worst team ever record wise and still tries to pull this crap. We need some leadership in the AD offices instead of guys who have a piece of paper that says they're qualified to do the job. Sometimes you need some field training. We keep hiring guys who skip that.

Couldn't have said it better. I got very active on social media yesterday because I'm tired of 1 or 2 wealthy and powerful boosters forcing mediocrity down our throats, and telling us we're dumb for not eating it up. I'm also tired of guys like herbstreit condescendingly opining on a program they regularly mock. espn would've relentlessly attacked this hire and ranked it among the "worst in the sec coaching carousel". Bottom line: GS is not a good coach, with a questionable past, and a consensus a$$ to be around. NOT IN MY HOUSE.
Sidebar: if the dude is so darn great, where where the massive outcries from former players and colleagues? ........crickets

Nobody, including myself, wanted Schiano because his record was mediocre.

The sex abuse angle gave Currie a reason to break the agreement when he saw how upset everyone was.

This is all on Currie.

His perspective on the talking heads bashing the fans was insightful, I thought. And I agree with him, every industry takes advantage of the end user to a large extent, and it's easy to forget that at some point you have to try and earn their business.

I guess what irritates me the most is that the media doesn't really understand, nor appreciate, how informed we, as Vol fans, really are...whether it is football, politics, or which way the wind blows...:)

GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

When the University brought Currie back I thought, here we go again, another retread. He earned his bones under Cheek and Hamilton, and they showed what great football minds they have.

The University is quick to ask for money, but when it comes to putting an entertaining, first-class product on the field they aren’t even close. How arrogant can you get? They figure they can put a dumpster fire on the field and fans will line up to buy tickets to watch it. And you know what? They’ve been right. That is to say they've been right up until last night when a fed up fan base finally stood up and shouted, "Enough!"

Let's hope the University brain trust is listening because they're in grave danger of losing lifelong fans if they don't.

"The fans didn't do what they did Sunday because they're crazy, they did it because they love Tennessee."

Exactly.

The rest of the self proclaimed experts/analysts/bloggers/reporters/etc. need to read this article by Andy and thank him for teaching them how to analyze an event. Andy gets it. Much respect.

Not to make this political but it feels like the last election..

The establishment had their candidate and their out of touch lapdogs in the national media talking down to anyone who didn't accept him.

The actions of Tennessee fans reminds me of a children of a drug addict mother. They have to try everything in their power to fix the adult who's acting like a fool. It's a flat out ugly situation. But the onus is on the piece of trash who refuses to do their job. Not on the child.

Our fanbase does not deserve beuracrats who have no clue about winning at football overseeing our football program.

I was thinking that any Vols that aren't Trump supporters now have an idea of what it feels like.

We're all just deplorables.

Have you read this article about the man? It's well beyond the Penn State stuff.

Greg Schiano loses Tampa Bay Buccaneers with autocratic style | NFL.com

We just went 4-8, and this is who John Currie wanted to hire to rejuvenate Tennessee Football.

Does look like the guy is a decent coordinator, though.

He literally just gave up 55 points to Iowa. IOWA.

Same here. I became active on social media as well. I also lit up the UT admin email and cell phones. I have relatives who are close to the Ohio State program. They tell me that it is common knowledge that Greg Schiano makes it difficult for peers to work with him, and he has been known to be abusive toward players. UT does not need that kind of personality working within our program, though we do need good, strong leadership. This is what I tried to get across to our administration via the emails and cell phones. I never got anyone by phone, but I did leave nice, civil voicemails and short, civil text messages.

The reasons I did not want Schiano: 1). I believe Schiano was just as guilty in the Sandusky affair as was Joe Paterno at Penn State. He told Bradley he "...saw Sandusky doing something to a boy in a shower... told Bradley..." but he did not tell the administration or the police - which was his legal obligation! He cared more about his job security than he did about the young men under his care. 2). His record at Rutgers and at the NFL is nothing to write home about... just a nick above .500. Currie told us we were getting "Big... Expensive... Explosive." Well he got the "explosive" part right, I suppose.

Now, I wonder just what this "explosion" does to John Currie and the search for our next head ball coach?

Was this a total conspiracy to place a specific coach at a specific university? Where do Peyton, Fulmer, and perhaps
JG fit in?
