Porcupine Tree is an English psychedelic rock group. I like me some psychedelics. Their earlier stuff kinda sounds like Pink Floyd, and their newer stuff is heavier (kinda Tool sounding). They've been around for over twenty years, so they have released a bunch of material. Give e'm a listen.

Jompson Brothers will be at Preservation pub tonight in knoxville with a free in-store appearance at disc exchange at 4.
The lead singer is Chris Stapleton formerly of the steeldrivers. The Jompson brothers play rock/blues type stuff. Nobody beats Chris's vocals.

Morphine is a three piece band that consists of a two-string slide bass player/vocalist, a sax player and a drummer. Les Claypool cited them as an influence, so I checked them out. Now they're one of my favorite bands. The songs have a groove to them that I find very unique. Very low frequencies for those that like to be low.

Saw them in Sewanee back in 1996. Promptly went out and bought a couple of their CDs. Great band

Awesome profile.

You grow up listening to college radio?

Eh, not really, although pretty much everything I listened to before high school would qualify as 80s college radio music. I always listened to different stuff than pretty much anyone I knew, so it's usually cool for me to find someone with a similar music taste.

I'm not quite at UT yet (senior in HS, last semester wooooo) but I'm hoping to get a DJ spot at WUTK when I move to Knoxville.

10 Ft. Ganja Plant is a reggae band. I don't know too much about them, and their music was kind of difficult for me to locate (for free at least), but once I found it I was glad I did. The music is very chill, and it puts me in a good mood. We all need a little mood uplift from time to time (especially some of the loons on this board). I hope you enjoy, I'll post my favorite song by them.

Morphine will always hold a special place in my heart: many great nights with friends listening to their stuff (RIP).

For the poster disappointed in the Nickel Creek break-up: check out Thile's project Punch Brothers. They probably require a dedicated sit-down session with the full album, but amazingly talented and original.
