good interview with Josh Smith

Wish this had the full interview. Swain was talking this am about the other part of the interview where he said something to the fact of them not being ready for GA. So for all of you complaining on the Boo's maybe if they had been ready you wouldn't have heard the Boo's. That locker room is toxic right now. Two different fights in the past month with a couple of pretty bad injuries from them.

Yes, you should keep cheering at what ever opportunity you get.

Do you boo you local high school team? Middle School? If not, why not?

Why is it all of sudden acceptable behavior to start booing at the college games? Because their on scholarship or is it because you can be a little more anonymous and safe because you know their dad isn't likely to be sitting beside you?

Would you boo if you were sitting beside QD's dad? CBJ's family? If not, why not?
The local high school team doesn't require a donation of thousands of dollars for the privilege of purchasing season tickets.

The Josh Smith that is on the team but doesn't play because he never saw an injury he didn't have. He has played only slightly in the last several years. Unless you gut it out and play you should just stfu.

Didn’t jones used to say Josh had the best hands on the team? See any regression?? BJ can’t be gone soon enough

It is sad that a player has to defend another player. And that is not a coaching issue.

That is an issue with the media and the fans. Never ever boo a player. Yea I know some say I am booing the coach but that is just an excuse for their arrogance. It is obvious these players hear those boos and don't like them.

But ... most will be like Swain and write this off and ignore it.

honestly don't think the boos are directed at a specific player, I think that is mostly for CBJ and his staff.

Can't like this enough, when you are a season ticket holder, make trips that cost in the thousands and the product you see on the field is this bad. Fans have a right to be upset and "voice their opinion"

All boobirds are asshats.
Its not justifiable.
Its just this simple.
All boobirds are asshats.

If you're in the stands and the booing starts, look around and you can think to hourself, "Tbere's an asshat, and another,...there's a couple more.

Boobirds? Asshats all.

Is there an insider that can confirm the source?

When QD threw into triple coverage against Ga on 3rd and long, when it fell incomplete, the boos were for him. That's poor form. We should save our boos for the other team or the refs.

Go Vols!

This thread shows a perfect example as to why Tennessee is now nationally recognized as one of the worst fanbases in not just college football, but sports in general.

Receivers don’t run the right routes....so the receiver doesn’t know the route? Who’s fault is that?

If he doesn’t know, and was allowed to still play, who’s fault it that?

Kevin Beards fault. Correct?

So if Kevin beard consistently lets guys play that
Do not know routes or the playbook, and is allowed to continue to do this, who’s fault is that then?

Larry Scott, correct?

So if Larry Scott continues to allow Kevin Beard to get away with letting guys plays who aren’t able to do their job or do not know how to do their job, who’s fault is that?

Butch Jones, correct?

No one is booing these kids. Get off that damned crutch. You know people are not booing those players, just stop. Seriously.

They are booing this staff. These players are NOT being coached. That’s what the booing comes from. The booing comes from allowing Dormady to stay in a game and burn down in front of his home crowd. Everyone and their grandma could see Dormady was not having a good day and they allowed him to stay in the game. THATS the problem. It’s the lack of awareness of Butch Jones that brings boos. Not these players.

It’s the lack of coaching. Lack of coaching ability. Lack of coaching awareness.

So again, put your bleeding hearts away and stick your crutches back in the closet. No one hates these players. We PITY them because they are sacrificing their bodies for coaches who couldn’t give a flying **** if they are put in good situations or not.
If there's a chorus of boos after every play while they're still on the field or just coming off, how could they not assume that they are the ones being booed? I would imagine that's pretty disheartening. These guys are giving their lives to this, not even getting paid for it, and don't even feel supported by the fan base. I mean there's no 2 ways about it. He's telling you in the interview in black and white how it's perceived.

Well you know how they fix that? Freaking play better.

Pretty simple solution if you ask me, and if they're not taking it seriously enough to try and get better, when it's clear they're not very good, then that's on them.

The fans have a right to boo if what they're seeing is crap. Don't like it? Tough, that comes with playing football in the SEC.

This. The buck stops at the top. I've had issues this week with one of my groups not being able to fix replication of Exadata machines. Do I tell my boss it's the groups fault? No, I called him and told him it was my fault.

I told him that because it's true. I've been to easy and forgiving with this group. I like them. And I've been making excuses. Brought in consultants, earmarked money for training. They haven't used any of the budget.

So, that's my fault. Mine, and mine alone. I'll take care of it. Or I'll be gone.

That's the way the world works.

You got poor raising.

Booing your own team or coaches, that's just trashy.

Smith believes Tennessee's receivers haven't helped their quarterbacks and should take plenty of blame for the passing game's inefficiency.

"They don't see the receiver that has to run a 15-yard dig and he's running a 12-yard dig or vice versa."

"Our routes, some of the receivers aren't doing their jobs."

Sounds like a coaching problem to me.

I agree that missed assignments can throw off plays, but I doubt every other team's wideouts run a perfect 15 yard route every time yet they still make plays on halfway decent thrown balls. With the speed of the play, the QB's not measuring off 15 yards perfectly before he throws it, hes looking towards the receiver and defense as well and delivering the ball. Accuracy and timing of the QB has a lot to do with it. Maybe I am off base, but I saw a lot of uncatchable or very difficult to catch, balls thrown in the Georgia game.
