Good game refs... **again**

What was the free throw comparison? Like OSU 40 Tenn 20.... not to mention Conley fouled Ramar on that last play... good season but it sucks we couldnt finish out the game.
We missed enough free throws that having more would not have really mattered. Also, no ref is going to blow the whistle in that situation, unless the foul is blatant.

We lost because with Oden and Hunter on the bench, we stopped working the ball inside. We did not hit free throws, and we missed three layups in the final 4 minutes.

If OSU had hit their free throws we would not have had a chance. Quick fouls and sending them to the line helped their cause by not allowing time off the clock on possessions. Comebacks are alot easier when your on the defensive end, foul called, walk the length of the court and shoot your free throws. Vols exceeded expectations and if we can add a big man-WATCH OUT!! Hopefully the new recruit we got can fulfill this position.

Does it matter what the free throw percentages were ? Its not like we would make them. No excuses for blowing a 20 point lead either. Stop blaming the refs and trying to find a scapegoat

As predicted yesterday, regardless of the outcome, there is complaining about the officiating.

First, you had a tremendous season and should be congratulating your team for being one of the most interesting to watch, don't cheapen it by whining about something that isn't there.

Second, the officating was fine. There were several ticky tack calls in both directions. It was even handed and anyone objective would think so.

Third, you have to give OSU credit for getting its act together and adjusting back to a successful gameplan -- they battled back and won it as much as UT lost it.

And, fourth, what a tremendous college basketball game. OSU comes back but UT digs in and it comes down to the last possession. Could have gone either way.

Congrats again on a great season Vols!! The future is bright at Tennessee.

The game was called good. Most of the fouls called on Ohio State were shooting fouls. Ohio State had 23 fouls, to TN's 18.

Yeah, but Tennessee didn't get to the line much off of those 23 fouls. Just got possession of the ball more than going to the line. And when they did get to the line, they were always missing 1 of 2, which has haunted them all season. Ohio State had 35 foul shots total to Tennessee's 17. Something is very backward here.

The game was called at a pace which benefited Tennessee! I agree with whoever stated that this pretty much a lame thread!

Unfortunately, it is to be expected. I doubt that the UT players are saying today that there was any sort of problem with the way the game got called.

Check out covered of the Tennessean. Lofton getting hammered by Oden on a layup--- no call. Lofton shoots 0 free throws.

I am sure you can find a few on both sides of the fence that you can argue with. Bottom line is that OSU clawed its way back in and outplayed UT down the stretch.

Maybe the front photo should have been Bradshaw missing a layup, Childress missing the follow, or Jajuan almost airballing a layup...

Losers blame games on refs.

UT are not losers! Yes, this was a painful way to lose. It seemed for a long time that UT was destined to win it and to come up short hurts. But it was overall one helluva an effort aginst one of the very best teams in the country. UT played excellent ball. Very impressed by the young players and the team will be solid. Pearl is building a nationally competitive team there and you can't expect to go from SEC walk over to Elite Eight in a couple of years. Just isn't going to happen.

Its not one basket, or free throw, or foul. Its the whole game. And UT was beaten by just the tiniest bit by a team that arguably has much, much better players on it. UT fans should be proud, not bitter.

And before anyone tells me that its easy for me to say because the Gators are still in, I am completely at ease with the possibility that it will be my team on the outside looking in this time tomorrow.

8-17, sounds like a team's 3pt. numbers. Too bad that has to be UT's numbers from the foul line. There is no reason why a college level team shoots under 50 percent from the foul line. I think Shaq and Ben Wallace would laugh at those numbers. I hope Pearl works with these guys on their foul shooting because once again, that did them in. It's also nice to know that Greg Oden is the only player in America that is allowed to play while he is bleeding. What happened to the rule that you must come out until you get taped up or the bleeding stops? He had blood dripping from his chin and on his jersey.

No chance, the Gators will run Butler out of the gym...

Blaming the refs is a garbage argument...when you are outmanned you are going to foul...it's just a fact...24-17 is not the bad anyways...I don't believe I saw more than 1 foul all night I didn't agree with, of course some will disagree but those are the irrational orange sunglass wearers who think everyone is out to get the VOLS...facts are OSU outplayed us in the Second half and the refs had NOTHING to do with us blowing a 20 point lead...NOTHING...

The FT shooting has been an issue for UT all year long.

I am proud of this team and coach Pearl did a great job again. I am going to miss Dane Bradshaw and I think he will make a great coach if he wants to. I am sure the coaching staff will address some areas like foul shooting and with the group coming back next year they can make another run. Ryan Childress had a big game last night and I think he will be a key player next season. With all the freshman on this team they could be really dangerous next season. It's nice to have something other than football to fill a year out. Give credit to Mike Hamilton, he has done a lot for UT and we are lucky to have him there. GO VOLS!!!!!

the only problem i had with the officiating is the ticky tack call on one end to give conley the free throws, followed by a no call on the other end in what could have just as easily been called a foul. i am not looking for a gift, only consistency in officiating, but when you are a number 1 seed, you get those calls.

I agree it was called liberally, but am also going to repeat that I felt, as someone rooting mildly for UT, that the officiating was overall neutral.

Complaining about the calls in that game is a complete cop out. We stopped hitting shots and OSU went nuts from the field in the 2nd half.

Many people on this board love cop outs. Every time we lose they want to blame somebody else for the loss. It doesn't matter whether it's football, basketball or some other sport. Heaven forbid our teams take accountability for losing. Let's blame someone else for our loss.
