Good Game - but not what you thought...

Yes, the call that the refs got correct was what cost you... not all the missed layups. If your're so classy then say good game and leave it at that. Don't talk trash and have a cute (at least in your mind) sig.

Hang around some UT fans, maybe you'll learn what class is really about.

First off - good game. While some of you said that I would not come back after the game, why wouldn't I?

This game was far from what most of you expected. I think what we saw here was that Butler was very much in this game - and if we hadn't started off so poorly, throwing the ball away 7 times inside of the first 10 min or so (earlier than that?), hit a layup or two, or shot free throws more like our usual selves there would have been a different outcome today. Regardless, Pearl did a good job turning up the defense, and switching from the outside game to get physical around the basket, fouling out Howard, and taking it at Mike Green. The defensive pressure definitely wore down our guys and had a big impact at the end.

Now, I certainly don't expect you to admit that this game was far from the easy win most predicted, and while your Vol's may have far better athletes (was that ever in question?) there was certainly no discrepancy in class here. I doubt many of you will give Butler the credit it deserves - actually I'd be shocked to see it, but deep down, you know you your pants at the end of the second half, and right up until they clarified that the block was in fact a block, and not a goal tend. What was proven was that both teams do what they do very well - and in the end, you won a game that could very well have gone either way.

SO, I will say good game; and while walking away disappointed - I don't feel that we lost at the hands of a team who out classed us - but rather one that did what it took to win the game. I wish I could say the same for us, actually, I feel that we pissed this one away...

Good luck the rest of the way out. We have a habit of losing to the eventual champions... who knows....

I think you wanted us to believe it was going to be easy. You must admit you had some fans that came in here and talked some S@@@. When the 5th rank team in the country plays the 10th ranked team in the country there is nothing easy about it. The Vegas line got it right. they know for sure what they are doing.

It was the other junk about the lights out shooting and what Bulter was going to do to us. I never thought we would lose to much depth but I knew it would be close.

I did not like a game with 50 fouls. That works out for nobody. 25 and 25. I respected Bulter from day one and how you ended up a 7 seed beats the hell out of me. Should have been easily a 3 or 4.

Pretty much what I expected to see.

Funny thing is that while you credit this win to having better players, you say that they played terrible - don't you think Butler had anything to do with that?

I don't expect a reasonable answer, so I'll simplify and just say this: Butler's "white" "nonathletic" "small conference" (all thrown around before or after the game by your fans) players were very well in this game despite having a sub-par performance. Sure you had something to do with that - just as we had something to do with your superstar athletes in a multi-million dollar program having a "bad" game.

We'll be back...

1. Sub-par and poorly isn't the same as terrible, stop reaching.

2. Both teams played poor games, some of it because of the other team, I will stand by the fact that UT has yet to bring their A-game in the tourney. If all of the guys bring their A-game, they can beat anybody.

3. You keep bringing up how much everybody dogged Butler, even though it is common knowledge that the majority of people on this board respect Butler's talent and knew this would be a tough game, and several people thought Butler would get the upset. You only reference the opinions of the minority to try to prove your baseless points.

4. You are embarrassing the team you are a fan of by your attitude and lack of acknowledgment of all of the posts crediting Butler for many positive things. Please stop being such a complete tool.

ESPN - Point made for Tennessee guards - Men's College Basketball

It came down to more than just this play, but it was a very big call that did not go our way, and ultimately sank the ship.

Feel fortunate that they sided with the 2 seed...

You whine about one play, yet ignore that the majority of fouls were in your favor, especially "ticky tack" fouls. Not to mention the many times Butler's ball handlers would use their non-dribbling hand to reach out and even stiff arm defenders to the ground in order to create separation. Maybe I'm wrong, but I was pretty sure that isn't legal, yet it wasn't called...ever.

The day is done - I am done here.

Good luck the rest of the way... if we have to lose, I'd rather it be to the eventual champion - we have a knack for that.

Good night....you weren't exactly classy ... but I hope you're right about the eventual champion part (though we have a lot to prove in that regard).

Was it just me or did everytime graves went to the cup it was an offensive foul pushing off. Yea butler played well but we let them hang around by turning the ball over and poor defense

Butler reminded me a lot of our team last year...minus somewhat decent post play (our boys did..and still...have a lot to learn). Butler played to their strengths.. and that still wasn't enough.

sorry, one somewhat nice post doesn't make up for the lack of class you displayed in all of your other ones today. Maybe I'm just cranky, but I really wish you would go away for good. I actually liked Butler a lot more before I read your biased and rude posts. Congratulations on tarnishing my opinion of your team's fans all by yourself.

What is your problem dude? Most here respected Butler both before and after the game. Both teams did exactly what they schemed - take the other team out of their comfort zone. We made more plays.

Must be tough walking upright with that huge chip on your shoulder.

You were done before you ever arrived here. Believing otherwise was your first mistake.

Come on guys, let's be nice. This guy probably has to live in Indianapolis. You know, like, EVERY DAY. IN INDIANAPOLIS. That would suck enough as it is, of course, but if it weren't for our most famous recent alumnus, then the team they stole from Baltimore would still be staring up the arse end of the rest of the AFC.

Sorry it chaps you to lose to a football school. Too bad.

Dude, you can remove the chip from your shoulder... I think most here respect bulter's b-ball program greatly... myself included. I expected a hard fought game, disciplined, experienced teams give us trouble. I did not like the match up at all, especially for a second round game. You guys should have been a 5 seed, you are much better than the other 7 seeds (except for WVU), and better than most of the 6s too.

Sort of a strange post really. I don't think anyone on here underestimated Butler, but many of us did expect to win and we were right.

That's right, you saw all those coming from your crystal ball, didn't you? (Including Butler would win today). Mr. Rational, please leave our unreasonable Tennessee Volunteers alone and find some other places to promote your Butler.

I expect Tennessee to win today, and they did. No disrespect to Butler. I know Butler returned 3 (maybe 4) starters from last year's decent team, and honestly I was quite surprised Butler was not in a lot of pre-season top 25. I thought Butler might make a run at tournament, and they did. But unfortunately, Butler met Tennessee.

Please leave us alone, and I wish you a good Easter.

MAN...Wow, are you trying to scare everyone with that avatar? Thanks a lot, now I have to go clean my undies.
