First off - good game. While some of you said that I would not come back after the game, why wouldn't I?

This game was far from what most of you expected. I think what we saw here was that Butler was very much in this game - and if we hadn't started off so poorly, throwing the ball away 7 times inside of the first 10 min or so (earlier than that?), hit a layup or two, or shot free throws more like our usual selves there would have been a different outcome today. Regardless, Pearl did a good job turning up the defense, and switching from the outside game to get physical around the basket, fouling out Howard, and taking it at Mike Green. The defensive pressure definitely wore down our guys and had a big impact at the end.

Now, I certainly don't expect you to admit that this game was far from the easy win most predicted, and while your Vol's may have far better athletes (was that ever in question?) there was certainly no discrepancy in class here. I doubt many of you will give Butler the credit it deserves - actually I'd be shocked to see it, but deep down, you know you your pants at the end of the second half, and right up until they clarified that the block was in fact a block, and not a goal tend. What was proven was that both teams do what they do very well - and in the end, you won a game that could very well have gone either way.

SO, I will say good game; and while walking away disappointed - I don't feel that we lost at the hands of a team who out classed us - but rather one that did what it took to win the game. I wish I could say the same for us, actually, I feel that we pissed this one away...

Good luck the rest of the way out. We have a habit of losing to the eventual champions... who knows....

nice thoughts, but I find it interesting that you suggest we were the only ones....it wasn't exactly what you were predicting either...how about that 50% 3 pt shooting.

Against board rules....and VolNation is classier than you may think....Butler deserved to be a 4 seed they were no 7 seed, but it was an exciting game and I wish the best for Butler's Bball program, also most of the Butler fans on the board predicted a bulldog win..so apparently it didn't turnout like you thought it would either

I dont know who you think we are but im sure there are plenty of people here, myself included, that will give Butler all the credit they deserve. You guys played great but I think what beat you guys is our depth. I mean a couple of you guys fouled out and that was it, wasnt really anyone to take their place.

Depth is what won us this game, it has won us a lot of games. Butler is a good team, sure you guys had some great opportunities but then again so did we.

Apparently reading comprehension is not his strong suit. If he's going to stink up our board, he might as well read Freak's announcement pin at the very top of the page.

Butler acquitted themselves well, unlike some of their fans on this site, but I do think that you saw a very poor effort from the Vols. We were trying out a new PG and got poor games from every single player on our team. I don't recall a game this season when everyone had a lackluster day. Today was that day.

I doubt any Vol fan would try to discredit Butler, even if some of their fans resemble certain Massingill feminine hygiene products. Graves is a hell of a little ball player. I wish Butler nothing but the best in the future, and admit I was sweating it out at the end.

btw, I would like to mention that we had more rebounds, a higher fg percentage, and a higher free throw percentage.

while you're talking fundamentals, might as well mention that we appeared better schooled in layups.

Shut up.

The MAJORITY of the board knew this game was going to be close.

I wouldn't say any of the post guys (mainly Chism, Tyler, and B-Will) had poor games. Nothing spectacular, but solid. Other than that we were trash all game.

those guys weren't awful, but fouls really impeded their play. I thought Chism was pretty good actually, but not what he was Friday.

Winning on bad days is what's required to win championships. The Vols did that. Butler is on their way home to watch the rest. Nobody cares that the victory was in OT (just as no one cares if the Vols kick a field goal to beat Vandy or block one to beat Kentucky). Winning is... winning. Turn the page.

The East has demonstrated that it will be the tougest route to San Antonio as most had expected. Whoever wins from these 4 east teams, takes home the Big Prize.

The first two rounds are history, but UNC and L'ville played the best in those rounds. That doesn't matter. All four are in the Sweet 16. That's worth celebrating!

I know you like Carolina, but this statement is discounting the strength of the other top seeds, a dangerous idea, and TX.

This tourney's still a crapshoot, with Kansas being the most talented team.

Obviously, he hasn't seen TN play at all this year. This game is almost exactly how I pictured it to be. I thought we would do enough to win in the last few minutes to pull it out. Didn't expect the OT, but that had nothing to do with Butler and everything to do with TN and them turning over the ball. For some reason we always play to our competition, so I guess we'll be on one of our best games to play Louisville.

I posted in another thread... but I think UCLA and Kansas are in the final four. I also think TX takes Memphis.

If UT can beat Lousville and UNC, they can win it all. I don't think they can beat Louisville, but I do think that either L'ville or UNC will win the tournament. My bias favors the Heels.

I do agree that there's A LOT of basketball left to play.

Pretty much what I expected to see.

Funny thing is that while you credit this win to having better players, you say that they played terrible - don't you think Butler had anything to do with that?

I don't expect a reasonable answer, so I'll simplify and just say this: Butler's "white" "nonathletic" "small conference" (all thrown around before or after the game by your fans) players were very well in this game despite having a sub-par performance. Sure you had something to do with that - just as we had something to do with your superstar athletes in a multi-million dollar program having a "bad" game.

We'll be back...

Your team played a good game, but now is the time to bow out and go home with the other teams who packed it in this week. No big deal... it happens.

With the entire world set up to oppress you it's really amazing that Butler manages to win any games at all. You should be really proud of yourself.
