Why not?, We know coach Jones likes continuity and promoting from within is always a good way to keep that, in addition Coach Martinez has been a DC at several stops before, and it would give Vols more options for hiring an up and coming, recruiting crazed, DB coach to take over that duty... Not a stretch, and doesn't break the bank either..

Jancek and Martinez split play calling duties for Georgia in 09, which was arguably one of the worst defense ever fielded under a Mark Richt led Georgia team. That would be a terrible move. Granted, JJ was a solid DC for us, Shoop is a proven and hot commodity. He will work wonders with the talent we have on defense.

by this logic, he would not have gotten rid of Janchek

I think he had the DC position with Georgia earlier in his career and got fired before being picked up by Jones. Not a good choice IMO. He does not possess the skill set required for a DC position.

Martinez is the point guy recruiting Nigel Warrior...hope all this goes smoothly.
