Another example of the change in UT's recruiting: Rodney Garner brought in guys like Deon Grant. Trooper Taylor brings in guys like Demetrius Morley.
Two things: 1. He couldn't play a lick. 2. Any scout or coach who evaluated Kenny Phillips and Morely and decided Demetrius was the superior player should be immediately put in the unemployment line.
We can (and have) argue until we are blue in the face about the talent level at UT. But the proof is in the pudding. This team is constantly filling holes. It could be that last year's recruiting class amends that situation, but the fact remains that most fans are sitting back holding their collective breath right now hoping that a handful of jucos and true freshman can make UT competitive again. That tells me all I need to know about the talent level on this team right now as compared to UF, LSU, Auburn and Georgia.
i agree, but at the same time, this also may be a good thing. we all know our history of "you stay you play". even if it based solely on need alone, it's good that we actually may have that option availble to us because the crop of new talent coming in actually may be good enough and actually utilized to make us better. who knows, we may learn a lesson or two, and it never hurts to go back in to a kids house on the next recruiting trip and be able to show that we had several incoming freshman get significant playing time.......or even start. We can (and have) argue until we are blue in the face about the talent level at UT. and if this season ends up better than expected.......who knows what kind of windfall that could reap in the next couple of classes.....
well, as you said, proof is in the pudding, here's to hoping it works out the way it needs to.I really believe that CPF is coming around on this issue. UT needs a speed infusion and they need it fast (no pun intended). Only time will tell if this is a lesson learned.
