Morley was the #1 DB on all the recruiting services. I think those guys look at athletic ability a bit too much. He may have been the most athletic DB in that recruiting class, but it looked like 2006 was his first year playing football. I'd prefer our coaches rely more on their own impressions of these kids rather than trying to win some mythical (and completely worthless) recruiting championship.

Morley was the #1 DB on all the recruiting services.
Two things: 1. He couldn't play a lick. 2. Any scout or coach who evaluated Kenny Phillips and Morely and decided Demetrius was the superior player should be immediately put in the unemployment line.

Exactly. He probably ran the shuttle drill faster than Philips. That really helped him out when he was chasing a guy that just caught a 30 yard pass because Morley was out of position.

To be the best, you have to beat the best, not the Citadel.

True, Auburn didn't have a good enough schedule to deserve the right to play USC, and like ut4me said, I don't think Auburn stood a chance with USC.

Auburn's OOC sched was, La Monroe, Citadel, and LaTech.:hmm:

We can (and have) argue until we are blue in the face about the talent level at UT. But the proof is in the pudding. This team is constantly filling holes. It could be that last year's recruiting class amends that situation, but the fact remains that most fans are sitting back holding their collective breath right now hoping that a handful of jucos and true freshman can make UT competitive again. That tells me all I need to know about the talent level on this team right now as compared to UF, LSU, Auburn and Georgia.

Beef just cannot understand that you attack the post, not the poster....take the article to task, not the person that commented on it

i agree, but at the same time, this also may be a good thing. we all know our history of "you stay you play". even if it based solely on need alone, it's good that we actually may have that option availble to us because the crop of new talent coming in actually may be good enough and actually utilized to make us better. who knows, we may learn a lesson or two, and it never hurts to go back in to a kids house on the next recruiting trip and be able to show that we had several incoming freshman get significant playing time.......or even start.

and if this season ends up better than expected.......who knows what kind of windfall that could reap in the next couple of classes.....

I really believe that CPF is coming around on this issue. UT needs a speed infusion and they need it fast (no pun intended). Only time will tell if this is a lesson learned.

well, as you said, proof is in the pudding, here's to hoping it works out the way it needs to.

cause at this point, i just keep looking at the schedule and i can't help but think if we can't get at least 10 wins out of this, something is wrong.

I have friends who are huge Oklahoma fans and they went through a down period back in the late 90s. USC was mediocre through most of the 90s. Nebraska hasn't exactly been tearing things up the last 5 years. We know what happened to Penn State. We'll be fine.
