that the majority in Memphis spend all week robbing banks and shooting each other is well documented, isn't it? :p

Haha ... good article. It's true, you know? I grew up in East Tennessee, have been all over the country, and have never been to Memphis. I can honestly say I've never had anybody say, "Hey, you should really go check out Memphis! It's a great town ... you'll have a great time!" In fact, what I hear from people who have been there or lived there is almost exactly the opposite.

Until I get over there, I guess I'll reserve judgement ... but I'm not in any big hurry to visit ...

I had the trip from hell moving my brother to UM and haven't been back since. That was in 8th grade and now I'm a freshmen at UT.

Lived there for 4 years after graduating on the hill. Survived, and had some good times there too. Its all about paying attention to where you are.

It doesn't matter... and I'm a dork for saying this... but all three schools aren't from the same system.

Memphis is a Board of Regents school, and so is Vandy I believe.

UT of course is in the UT system.

I was born in Memphis but have lived in Knoxville since the third grade and went to UT so I consider Knoxville home. The problem with Memphis is there isn't just one bad area, they are spread throught the city. One minute you could be fine then the next minute be in a really bad part. K-ville is pretty much just east of downtown. But Beale Street is great and I always enjoy going back there is just a very different feel to the two cities.
