I don't think we can put a number on it and say that is "marked improvement". It's one of those things where we'll know it when we see it. I think right now we're looking for something to hang our hats on. Something that gives us hope for the future.

And I'm not sure we'll have to wait until year 2 to begin seeing those signs. If Pruitt's what we need, we should start being pleasantly surprised by in-game decisions and a toughness of character among our lads right from the start. In that sense, I think we'll likely "know" very soon. And then keep having it reaffirmed in year 2 and beyond.

Using Smart as a "year 2" example is faulty as he inherited a program and the talent that fired a ten winning season coach. Meyer and Saban neither had that luxury. I suspect this year when Smart actually has to play more of the kids he's actually recruited we'll better understand where he is on the coaching scale.

I’m all about this. If you can see toughness and good decision making then we can be confident much quicker.
