I just hope it doesn't take away from the thrashing we're gonna put on them in Knoxville...

Doubt we win this game. Very good PG play from Gonzaga... and don't think we'll be stopping Daye and Heytvelt or however you spell his name. We had enough foul trouble today - and these bigs are going to be more tough.

I wouldn't call my feeling doubt. I do fear that we may lose this game. Then get huge revenge at home, but thats not what i want. Then it doesnt look as good beating them at home.

This will be a huge challenge indeed. Even if we lose, this has been a great learning experience for us, and the exposure on national television is always a positive. We beat 2 very good teams in Siena and Georgetown, a big jump from Martin and Chattanooga.

We beat Georgetown with pretty much zero help from Williams or Chism. This team can be really good when hitting on all cylinders! I think we can overpower the Zags and beat them Sunday and at home. The sky is the limit with this team! :pepper: :number1:

I can't wait for this one. GREAT early season matchup. Win or lose, it will be great experience for the young guys that will likely pay off as the season progresses. The teams we will have played in this tourney would win 80% or more against a variety of SEC teams.

I'm looking forward to the game as well.

Honestly Heytvelt last year was just coming off a suspension and wasn't 100% last year and Jujuan shut Pargo down. Their assists to turnovers count was 11-18 and Tennessee's 20-10. We tend to turn the ball over a little more when Maze is out so that might make a difference.

Overall, should be a fantastic game on a neutral court with two of bball's best coaches going at it. Chess with athletes!

I don't ever want to lose, but doesn't anyone else think that a loss is just what this young team needs right now? Better to lose to a superior/equal opponent than to a VMI. I hope we win, but if we don't, it could be just what the doctor ordered. This is a tough schedule early and a reality check could be just the thing that transforms us from playing good basketball to GREAT basketball.

It won't break my heart. I want us to win, but if we don't, it's not the end of the world. It will probably give us inspiration to improve and put a smackdown on them in a few weeks when we meet again.

My Tennessee vols against a Team that is just up the road from where I live. This should be interesting. I agree with those of you before me who said that you never want your team to lose, but if we were to lose today than it would be a good thing when we meet up with them in the second game.

Game notes...

I don't know what we're gonna do with Pargo and Daye. I'm affraid they'll be a bit too much for our youngsters. We'll have to outscore the Zags to win a shootout, if not we could go down by double digits.
But, I do say BUT, I am wondering if it's not our time to prove that we can win in tournaments. Regardless of our history, and despite our youth and lack of solid defensive play I'm optimistic.
Maybe it's our time, if not, that's ok, but maybe...
Can't wait !!!

We match up pretty well with the Zags. I think our bench will be the deciding factor in this game. Vols 86 Zags 75. Our first prospect for a loss will be against Marquette or Kansas.

Not sure if you've seen those teams play. Zags are real deal and are a lot better than last year. They also have a little more depth than usual. Vols will handle Marquette and Kansas a lot easier than the Zags. I'd hope for a split if I were a Vol fan. Could easily lose both games.
