Setting up an awesome experience for my wife when we get there October 8th for our first game ever. We will be leaving right after my high school's game Friday night and make the 8 hour trip for the Georgia game.

I know we need to do the Vol Walk...but I need to know where we go for that, what time should we get there, things of that nature.

What else should we do? We'll be staying somewhere there, but we haven't made a reservation yet. I lived in Lenoir City in 90/91 and thought we could just stay down there Saturday night after the game and head back home Sunday afternoon.

Any suggestions on what to do or see while we're there would be great. I'm a VFL and I'm trying to convert her! She's not a fan of any team for that matter, but she'll be wearing orange that day for sure!

Thanks everyone!

Won't know time of Vol Walk until we know the time of the game. Have to check out the Vol Navy on the river and also the museum. That'll show her alot of the history and tradition of UT football.

I'm sure many of the locals that are on here can give you other and better things to do.

Hope you both have a blast!

I read online it starts X time before kickoff...but I was wondering what time I needed to get there in order to 'beat' the crowd.

Vol Walk is 1:45 before kickoff I believe. I'm not certain because the past 3 coaching staffs have had them at different times.

If you want to stand near the stadium or along Peyton Manning Pass you'll probably need to be there about 30 minutes early if you're trying to be up front. If you want to be back up near the Torchbearer then 10-15 minutes early is good.

If you don't care to be up front then just show up when it starts and you can still see about everything.
