Gonna be humid on Saturday boys..

I am a little concerned about the humidity. We have warm days out west but if you aren't used to the humidity it can really wear you down. One thing Oregon does have is a lot of depth. This should help with fatigue since we rotate in a lot of guys. My wife and I are flying into Nashville and driving to Knoxville. I was hoping someone could give me a suggestion for a good bbq place not too far off the interstate. Any suggestions would be appreciated. Anyway, looking forward to my first SEC football game. We are very excited and confident about our team this year but you never know how a team will react to 100K+, humidity & cross country trip. Hopefully both teams play hard and nobody on either side gets seriously hurt. Now that each team has their cupcakes behind them, lets get ready for some real football.

Calhoun's on the river is behind the stadium on Neyland Dr. Great bbq and wonderful atmosphere on game day.

If they can get there early enough then sure. It will be a madhouse on gameday though. If you want them to eat at Calhoun's, the one at Turkey Creek would be much easier.......just no gameday atmosphere.

Spokaneduck, the less crowded Calhoun's is at the Lovell Rd exit, about 5-10 minutes west of campus off I-40. Easy to get in an out of if you were just wanting to grab something to eat and don't mind missing some of the atmosphere that the one next to the stadium/on the river gives you.

it's hard for me to believe that any southerner thinks calhoun's has great bbq.

Well, we could always send them west to Memphis and then backtrack through Nashville to get to Knoxville. lol

Which route do you take? It takes me at least 20 minutes from Lovell to Campus on non game days.

Made the exact trip this past Saturday. Jumped on 40 and got off at Neyland Dr/Alcoa Hwy. Took maybe 10 minutes I believe. I might have just been so jacked for the game that time passed quickly. It has never felt anything like 20 minutes. I don't live there though so maybe I am wrong. Regardless, it is not that far.

Knoxville has terrible choices as far as BBQ is concerned. We really need to do something about that. And yes, buddy's BBQ sucks a**

It's not nearly as good as it has been in the past. People keep shelling out money though. It used to be fine BBQ back in the day.

the gameday experience is what keeps the river location packed. Packed house, on the water and overlooking the Vol navy is about as good as it gets

After working at Calhouns (Pellissippi) for 4 months... I'll never eat there again.

I'm not sure high humidity helps a team with so much less depth like Tennessee, even if they are "more used to it."

Hey, if you're willing to slum it (and by slum it, I mean come onto my side of town, LOL) hit the B&D Rib Shack at the intersection of Rutledge Pike/N Chilhowee Drive/Love's Creek Road).

Better than Calhoun's, in my humble opinion...

Thanks for the bbq suggestions. We are really looking forward to gameday. I love seeing new parts of the country and new stadiums. I am very optimistic about my beloved Ducks chances, but as they say that is why the game is played on the field. We have very speedy and shifty backs, a quick but undersized defense and a coach who seems to fit the offense to the players he has. I expect to ease our new quarterback into it by running a ton of zone read plays. We will see come Saturday. Most western college stadiums outside of the Rose Bowl don't hold close to 100K, so the atmosphere should be electric. It is amazing how loud Autzen can get with just shy of 60k. If I hadn't been there many times to experience it I would feel the same as a lot of you have suggested. "How can so few people make so much noise?" I'm hoping my ears will be ringing for a few weeks after we leave. Don't disappoint me Vol fans. I am traveling 3,000 miles so be on your game. Lets hope for a clean injury free game and let the best team win. See you Saturday.

If Oregon jumps on the Vols early, you will be disappointed with the "wanting your ears to ring for 2 weeks" thing.

Regardless, hope you have a good visit and don't run into any of our obnoxious fans. We do have a lot of good ones.

It would be nice to hear your stadium at its loudest to compare with Autzen. Every team has their obnoxious fans. I'm coming down there to have some fun and hopefully see an Oregon victory. Any obnoxious fans we encounter won't take away from our experience. Hope everyone gets to see that the west coast has some pretty good football too. Maybe I'll see a few of you at the game. I will be the one wearing yellow.
