Golesh and USF

Venebles is not going anywhere anytime soon.
Yep. I think the early struggles were due to the issues at the QB position. We UT fans can certainly relate. Given enough time to build "his" roster and find the answer at QB and I suspect he'll have OU back in conention sooner rather than later. I'm just glad we caught them with a gaping hole at QB when we got them in Norman. Honestly, if Mateer stays healthy, they might catch us at Neyland later this year if we have the injury plagued season it looks like we're in for.

Crazy Mullen was 34-15. I'm sure UF fans would take that in a heartbeat these days
It's funny to visit their boards and see all the fans waxing poetically about the 10-win seasons and competing for SEC Championships under Dan Mullen. A few are insistent he deserved to be fired and a handful are pointing out the UAA is the issue. Dan Mullen wasn't the common denominator.

Probably not. But they have a really tough schedule. And he absolutely has to beat Texas.

If they are sitting at 4 losses again after they face us, his seat is going to be red hot. The fans and donors aren't going to accept 7-5 or worse.

Many of them are finally coming around to what the rest of CFB has thought for a long time, which is that UF had kind of a quick hook on Mullen. They were in a tough spot though, because I think he was quite obviously mailing it in after not getting an NFL job the previous offseason. Something happened the week of that UK game and they completely imploded.

There are potentially 6 SEC teams that could be looking for a new HC this off-season,, not counting any teams that could have the HC poached (OM or USCjr). That's on the very high end, and I don't expect it will be that many. But it could potentially happen depending on how the season plays out.

UF - Napier is done without a magical turn around. The schedule is the toughest in the nation and this 4 game stretch may just wrap it up for the Napier era. Hottest seat in the SEC right now. He is fired after the UGA game, imo.
UK - This is an obvious one. UK looks like they are the worst SEC team again. They have 5 winnable games remaining to get them to 6-6. I don't see Stoops surviving another 4 or 5 win season. 2nd hottest seat.
Auburn - the schedule is pretty favorable and their toughest games are at home. But 6-6 or worse and Hugh is through. 7-5 might not even be enough
Arky - They look good now, but like UF, the remaining schedule is brutal. 7 of their remaining 10 games are against ranked opponents, and that doesn't count Ms St, who is on the cusp of being ranked. I don't think another 7-5 season is enough to save Pittman's job.

These next 2 are the longer shots to fire their HC
LSU - I list them because they aren't going to settle for mediocrity. If they go 8-4 or worse, Kelly is gone. No question here. They should be favored in every remaining game.
OU - I've already mentioned it in my last post, but 7-5 or worse with another loss to TX and I think Venables is gone. They look a lot better, but the schedule is brutal to end the year with 7 straight games against ranked teams. They should start 5-0, which means they need to take 3 of their last 7 games for Venables to be safe.

I also like VaTech as potential landing spot for Golesh.

I agree concerning UAA. I believe there are problems in the administration of the university (for example, search Ben Sasse).

It had become obvious, even to many Florida fans, that Mullen had mailed it in. Fans were always complaining about recruiting and Mullen told the Administration he needed more investment to land better players. They balked. This is a very corrupt Athletic Administration we are talking about. Everyone simpatico. Happy with whatever results. They make money hand-over-fist anyway. This new stadium project is a scheme to reward themselves and big donors who care more about this project than funding Florida's football roster.

I find that I agree with you a lot! I've speculated for years that some college administrators look down on college football and the fans. They view their athletics program as a simple marketing tool. If true, then this disdain may lead to dysfunction in their athletic programs. I am not saying this is true at UF, because I don't know what is happening there.
