Golden will not return next season (confirmed)

I find it hilarious how you guys complain about Golden all season long for being lazy, counter productive, and then all of the sudden he transfers and you start blaming the coach. This isn't HORRIBLE, it's bad but not the worst situation. Here's how I'm looking at it

PG - McRae/Lopez/Thompson
SG - Moore/Edwards/Hubbs
SF - Reese/Richardson/Hubbs
PF - Stokes/Moore (Moore was playing a 2/4 all year)
C - Maymon/Rawane Ndiaye

I still think our depth's there and I think we'll do fine, we played without him almost all year anyways.

p.s. it's hard to predict where the incoming frosh will be, and how much everyone improves this summer can change starting lineups.

We will lose a lot of games we shouldn't with McRae playing PG. It's not for him in any fashion. I would rather trot Lopez out there for 40 minutes if it means McRae stays at the wing, and take my chances.

that lineup is doing this team and jordan mcrae specifically a huge disservice. McRae has a great shot at a NBA career, but its not at the point gaurd position.
That lineup is almost identical to this year's lineup, without Golden. Do you not remember when he was 'injured' earlier this year? McRae was running point, and he wasn't even prepared with an offseason. Now he has the offseason under his belt to become a better ball handler and transition PG. The kid is an athlete, he can run whatever position he chooses (okay to a point :p). I don't think McRae will be starting at the PG spot, but will be running the 1 for a lot of the games.

Don't have all of the specifics yet folks, but as I mentioned originally about Golden, I had heard some rumblings for a bit about Golden being in some sort of academic trouble.*

After talking with some people with knowledge of the situation from the UT side this afternoon, I feel comfortable saying that his departure is related to academics and not related to playing time as has been suggested. Still doing some digging for details, but at this stage it looks to be definitely academically related, and my opinion would be that the decision was probably out of Martin's hands as it pertains to University guidelines for students.

I remember when Grudin,or what ever his name is/was, was our football coach. Or was he??

If you are only looking for rock solid things, I would suggest waiting on an official announcement from the university on things instead of not understanding the nature of a messageboard....JMO

Ericvol, I strongly believe Martin has a plan.

If he doesn't, or his plan doesn't work out, I don't see how you justify cutting him.

Pretty dangerous to cut him without having a verbal commitment from someone to come.

I hope he isn't just banking on being able to land Barton.

Why did Wilcox leave the football team?

Not sure this has been posted on here yet, running short on time lol, if so I do apologize ahead of time. But this was posted on a website called footballtime.com I will post a link to the story as well.

"While exact specifics aren’t known at this time, we can confirm it wasn’t Golden’s decision to leave. He was told his minutes were going to diminish drastically and that he should transfer"
