Golden Tate & Marvin Austin

Austin, I have no idea.
Tate, only if we win the national Championship this year and he is not asked to redshirt.

has tate been offered by Notre Dame and are we solid on Harrison Smith?

We don't want Tate. We don't have much interest in him nor does he in us. His top 4 are the Florida schools and ND, and none have offered. It is strange that he is so high on some boards, but only has a few offers from major D1 schools. I'd watch for Bama in this race.

Austin is down to 10 schools and we have just as much of a chance as the rest.

Smith will be a Vol. His parents are pushing Stanford, but he wants to be a Vol and will be a Vol in the end.

We are leading over Notre Dame for Harrison. If his parents werent in his ear he would probably already be commited to UT. They are the ones that want him to keep open the option of going to an 'academic' school. Hopefully his parents will eventually say 'go where you want to go' and he will sign with UT.

Harrison's Parents are both UT Grads and are pushing Stanford. ND is a very distant 3rd.

Tate is telling recruiters the position he will play in college and he is turning them off. Overrated

Tate has stated that he wants to play out of state. It's either ND or GT for him.

I find it humorous when people start saying that a prospect is not that great AFTER they turn down the Vols.

From everything I hear Tate is an awesome football player and I have never heard anything about him getting in trouble. That leaves only one possible explanation in my mind why he has not received offers from some of the programs that he claims to have at the top of his list, grades. I don't know it for a fact, but I've seen others state there are grade issues in other posts.

A couple of things. First of all, I don't think it is a grade issue. I could be wrong. But, I think he is a good kid and good student. I think the lack of offers stems more from his size and lack of natural position at the next level. The only position he has decent size for at the next level is CB. Well, he hasnt played that much CB and he has said that he is not really interested in playing defense. He tells his recruiters that he wants to play RB, and possibly some WR. These recruiters are holding off because they dont want to offer a 'RB' his size. That is my take. And, Tennessee is not out of the picture. He has said he is not against leaving the state to play. He has not said 'I will' leave the state. I don't think Tennessee is a leader, thats for sure. But, he has stated numerous times that Tennessee is among his list he is considering.

i actually know Harrison and UT and ND are even with Stanford a distant 3rd. He wants to play for UT but his parents want either ND or Stanford beacuse of academics. And Notre dame has good academics and athletics so they are even with UT.

You have to understand the thought processes of these kids. The knee jerk reaction is to hell with this punk let him sign with Auburn like Cooper Wallace then he can be mediocre and be chatted up almost as much as cooter from the Dukes of hazzard. Then you realize he may have SOME talent so you stroke his ego a bit till he signs with the Vols then ignore him. If he plays really well the bandwagon has unimeted seats, if he gets hurt or underperforms you can always say....another punk with limited talent and no brains. Same story in the SEC, different year.

Golden Tate has a lack of offers? Where do you all get your information from? He was in the Nashville City Newspaper last week in an excellent article, and he stated that his choices right now are GT, Georgia, Alabama, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. He wants to play football and baseball, and all of these schools I just listed went to the College World Series this year. Its been documented in the Tennessean and Nashville City Paper that Fulmer has been to his school, so UT is recruited him. Whether or not he has been offered is another story, so unless you have information stating that UT has offered him, then I would suggest that you conspiracy theorists calm down.

I agree with Patrick on this, I find it interesting that Vol Fans want to look down on a in-state kid that has the ability to play for UT yet decides to go elsewhere. Why can't a kid choose an out-of-state school if they desire? Patrick Turner has a National Championship Ring, and played for another one. How many has UT played for in the last two years? We should be happy that our in-state high schools are producing better athletes with the ability to even play at UT. How many years ago was that not the case? Not that many to the best of my knowledge. We should be celebrating that fact, but instead we want to ridicule any kid that doesn't commit to UT.

I hope that Golden Tate II gets an opportunity to play football and baseball at the school of his choice, and I wish him the best. That's all that should really matter in my eyes.

So long as they don't play agasint the Vols I have no problem with what you say.

From everything I have read there is no way Tate comes to UT and I doubt we will even see the UT staff expend any effort on him. Tate does have some offers but not from the big-3 FL schools or ND, which all appear at/near the top of his list. I think you are somewhat on the money rexvol. IMO this guy is a speedster athlete who is shining very bright among relatively weak competition. I've read tht of all the positions he plays he would best project as a receiver at the next level. Seeing as how we already have 3-4 potential WR commitments for 2007 I really don't see Tate as a big loss other than for P.R. purposes.

Patrick Turner doesn't have a National Championship Ring. He was a true freshman last year.

Patrick Turner caught 12 passes for 170 yards with 2 TD's. I wish we had him.
