Golden birds [Gaulden's message to Alabama fans]

Gaulden came to the post-game presser and apologized as sincerely as I've ever seen. He was embarrassed as he should have been. He didn't have to do that. He regretted what he did. He manned up as much as anyone I've seen in that type of situation.

I hope the bastards choke and puke on their victory cigars

Without a doubt the most disgusting tradition in all of college footba. I am honestly amazed that smoking in the stadium is allowed. I guess so many do it that you cannot stop but smoking tobacco of any kind is just repulsive to me.

I personally don't think too much of it.

However, Butch is the one who told Eric Stryker from Oklahoma to "have some damn class" when he did this in Neyland. That's what makes this look so bad IMO.

Only reason Butch cared is b/c his garbage clock management cost him that game and Stryker was yelling at recruits. Butch knows all he has is recruiting so if someone does anything to damage that he freaks out. Remember when all the UT coaches made a statement on the sexual assault allegations, and Butch said something like “it’s being used against us in recruiting”

It was a personal foul. He got the penalty. He will run stadium steps. That is plenty of punishment. People overreacting saying he should have been benched. That comes across as something else to pile on Butch for "oh his day should be done"! I want Butch gone too but saying he should sit Gaulden for an emotional response is crazy.

Crazy? We get 1 Def TD, but we still losing 28-7 at this point in the game, and the players are celebrating and flipping off the fans. Pretty indictive of where the players are mentally and how mediocraticy and acceptance has settled in the players as well as the coaching staff.

Nobody gives a crap about Gaulden flipping birds.

Some, hopefully most VOL fans disdain such immature & classless behavior. Yes, it's likely some bammer clown said or did something ugly, but restraint beats wallowing in the mire with pigs.

Indicative of control jones and shoop have over players. The fact he continued to play speaks volumes. Don devoe benched doug roth for game when he did that at lsu

F them, bammers. I don't want choir boys, I want winners. I would go back to the Fulmer Cup if it meant 10 win seasons and legit shot at SEC Championships.

Hahaha

Flipping off Bama fans is a sign of mediocrity?

You haters are really reaching..

Yep, such a double standard that Bama can taunt our fans with a hand to the face but Gaulden does a terrible act. I don't condone it and made sure my young kids didn't see it. But I thought it was funny and Bama fans deserve it.

because you were getting beat like a old drum ??..

I agree with this but he should have sat the rest of the game. If Butch doesn't know or find out he did what he himself called a "classless move" when an opposing team did it then there is a serious breakdown in communication on the sidelines. Would have been another notch in the "runs clean program" that is the only meat to his resume as far as a coach. We all know he can sell and recruit to high school players but as a coach his one calling card is running a clean program. Kicks to the face resulting in stitches, blatantly lying about the Warrior-Turtle fight and letting this happen hurts his brand as much as what has happened (or not happened) on the field.

I agree that CBJ should have sat Gaulden for the rest of the game. The kid is a representative of The University of Tennessee and should act like it. I know Tuscaloser is a tough place to play, with the Gumps and RTRB followers swarming the place. CBJ has really lost full control of this football team. Throwing birds on national TV sends a message to the nation about The University of Tennessee. I think Kongbo got two personal foul calls as well, hands to the face.

If I were him...., the only regret I would have is that I decided to give them the bird while we were getting mashed..... id also regret that I didn't point into the crowd with one hand instead of giving the double.... I could say I was pointing at someone particular l..... they were giving me the finger and my emotions got away from me
