Hat, and all the other basketball fellas do you think Tennessee would be better off playing Melvin Goins and Bobby Maze at the same time?

The line-up would look like this.

1. Maze
2. Goins
3. Hopson
4. Prince
5. Chism

I don't see why this wouldn't be much better. Then we could bring Hall in for Prince and Wooldridge could come in for Hopson.

Then Williams could sub in for Chism, Bone and Mcbee could give Maze and Goins some rest but not have them get out of the flow of the game...also it keeps S Pearl out of the game!

What do you think?:good!::hi:

Sounds like trying to take two negatives and make a positive.

Disclosure: I am not an expert.

Pearl was going to put Maze at the 2 because he wanted more production from that spot, so that means Hopson wouldn't be in. Prince would be the 3 and Hall or Woolridge would be the 4.

While Goins and Maze lack the talent of Hopson they are creating more than him and McBee, so I'm ok with experimenting with that.

I don't understand why he would take our most talented player off the floor and leave the human brick out there? (Wooldridge).

It just seems like this lineup would give us the best players on the floor at positions they could play in...

With the current roster, I think this could very well be our best line-up. Prince could assume the point-4 position that Smith played and he would also be better defensively than Wooldridge. I don't agree that Wooldridge come in for Hopson--I'd rather have McBee.

I am up for anything to reduce Woolridges minutes untill he decides to man up and dribble drive..He can't shoot 3's...!

You have to get Hall involved. I have liked when he, Goins and Prince are on the floor.

He is probably just trying to give McBee and Hopson a wake up call. Neither of them are creating enough offense. Maze and Goins are. You can't play Prince at the 4 because he is not built for that. He is built for the dribble drive.

I didn't say I necessarily agree with his decision, but I see why he would do it. Hopson is clearly the most talented but he has to step up and he hasn't consistently.

This.

Plus Hopson sucks on defense. Maze is much more adept at guarding the 2 spot.

This was absolutely coachspeak for our two play needs to be embarrassed, but not by name.

Exactly. Pearl is calling out Hopson. There are schools where Maze can legitimately play the 2. They play in the SWAC, the MEAC, and the SoCo.

The other 4 players aren't going to play the whole game so it doesn't matter. Chism is the anchor of the team anyway. Woolridge should hold down the last spot on the bench IMO though.

Sometimes it seems like we are running 1st and 2nd strings out there. I guess CBP probably runs them that way in practice but having Goins, Hall, Tatum (when healthy), Pearl and one other player just seems odd. Why not always have at least 3-4 starters on the floor at a time?

I think i know what would really help...completely eliminate all of Steven Pearls minutes.

Have you watched the games? As much fun as people have bashing him, he is better on defense than Woolridge. He draws charges, steals the ball and hustles on D. Neither player can score but only one of them is smart enough to know it.

No way Prince can guard the 4-position. At the same time, when Hall is in with Chism, there is too much clog in the paint and Chism does not have as much space as he needs to do his thing.

Agreed on Maze. Sadly, he'd be a better two than one. Much better.

Of all the things that enrage me about how Pearl does business, the fact our roster is always The Island Of Misfit Tweeners might be the most annoying.

Prince could guard the 4 just as effectively as Woolridge. Of course, that's not saying much.
