As for Athens: probably middle tier in the SEC towns. Just about impossible to get to/from on game day and the barking makes me want to punch people.

The dynamics and physics of the Swamp are different. Sound resonates off the aluminum walls, and the field is actually underground some, so the sound gets trapped, it's ear-splitting. Much of the Neyland sound goes up and out of the stadium. I've heard it plenty loud, but not as loud as Florida or Auburn, and on par with Bama and Georgia.

Florida ain't loud. Come on. I've sat club level, end zone, student section, nose bleeds etc. at the swamp. Neyland destroys it and it's not close. UGA the last two visits at Neyland have been louder than any game in the swamp I've been to. Second loudest in the sec was lsu for me.

Loudest game I've been to was Michigan for their first night game a few years back. They won on a FG.

The Crowes are actually from the Atlanta 'burbs (Marietta), originally called Mr. Crowe's Garden. But yeah, it's a great music town.

Definitely not the same as entering Neyland.

I've been to probably 30 games there and I go through Athens about once a month. Sanford is definitely not as visually intimidating as Neyland because of the open end of the stadium where the bridge prevents an upper deck... but it's still a huge stadium where you can't hear yourself think when it gets going.

Lol, yeah, I may have an unfair advantage. I played in bands all over Georgia in the 80's/early 90's. Used to do the Sunday jam with the Georgia Satellites at Hedgens. Good times .

I don't know why more people don't stay up there. It's only about 20 miles north and it's got decent hotel, food and shopping options. And it's right on the interstate and 441, so you can get anywhere from there.

I was born in Commerce but only lived there like a year or two as a baby. I'd like to go back down there and see it sometime with my dad.
