We let one get away Saturday night. I realize that, but this is the type of year i thought it might be. That being said, i still think we finish 6 and 6 and get to a bowl game. What are your thoughts on a realistic finish?
Agreed, and.....
Have to win 3 out of the final four to go bowling. Charlotte is as close to a gimme as we'll get, so 4-5. Then 2 out of 3 against UK, Mizzou, and at Vandy. Let's take them in order, since that's how they'll be played.
UK @ UT: UK hosts UGA this Saturday, then travels to Knoxville. It's MTSU after us, so they won't be looking ahead. Let's hope UGA beats their ears off, so that they come in to Knoxville knowing the CFP, and the SEC East, is out of reach. A slightly demoralized UK team is much better than one thinking they can get to the SECCG, and maybe beyond. After that, it's up to UT to win against a better opponent. Yes, they are.
Mizzou @ UT: Mizzou likely comes in at 5-5, maybe 4-6. But let's say 5-5. Bowl game in reach. Last road game. This one comes down to Drew Lock. Bottle him up, and UT has a chance. Don't, and this may be where UT's bowl chances officially end.
UT @ Vandy: Vandy is 4-5. They play at Mizzou and host Ole Miss before we travel to Nashville. Let's say 5-6 just to be safe. So they might be playing for bowl eligibility; might already have it; or might be on the outside looking in. UT might be in the exact same place. Either way, this game comes down to who just wants it more. I think this one hinges on rushing yards and turnovers. Win both, and you likely win the game. Then again, maybe JG goes for 350. Who wants it more?
And if I were you, I wouldn't lay a single dollar on any of that. That's just what I think now. Check back with me tomorrow.
