Going for it on 4th down on our side of the field

If Lee Corso made the comment then yeah it would make me mad but for other commentators without the bias I don't get too mad.

Sorry, that's carney for crap. bizalls is balls. just add iz to the first consenant and you can get by the FCC on radio. It's old school wrestler lingo. Gizet izit? It's probably just a Tampa thing since so many wrestlers live here.

Please note my username. I have been doing this for years but have no idea where I picked it up. Let's just say I coined the usage! :shhh:

I don't have a problem with it either. I saw someone else post yesterday about how Kiffin wouldn't have gone for it had it been UF, Bama, or a close game. We were up 28-0, the defense was stopping everything, and why not build some confidence for when we actually have to convert a 4th down.

I believe that he would have went for no matter who we were playing. This is a coach with guts and confidence in his team. He reminds me of the way that Spurrier was at Florida. All that does is it lets the other team know that we aren't scared of them. We know that he's not scared of Florida! Look for ihim to go for it on 4th down alot this season! Go Vols!

I remarked to Younger Son&Heir at the time, "THAT's having confidence in your defense."

Jeez, the announcers were really pissing me off then. I mean come on, what did WKU have in total offense when we tried to go for it? -10 yards? It was something close. Big freaking whoop, you're up 28-0 and they have done NOTHING. I LOVED it, it also gave us the chance to practice 4th down conversions though I question the play, I would have ran it right down their collective throats.

Absolutely loved it, plus using the 3 TO's before the half. Hell, I would have called one at the end of the game and let Poole score after that great run.:)

I liked it because it sets the stage in future games to make UT unpredictable. Our old offense was VERY predictable.

The other announcer didn't anything because the other announcer was Dave Neal and he is just as incompetent, if not moreso, than Ware.

Neal sucks---just like his Daddy. MOF---most talking heads suck---Herbstreet called the wrong team in the Al-Vt game. How do you screw it up when it is your job to be more focused on the action than the fans are?

I was fine with it as well... first drive of the 2nd half, a good opportunity to show the importance of putting points on the board coming out of the half. Regardless of the score I think it was a teaching opportunity for how they want the team's mindset to be moving on through the season.

I disagree with you thinking Ware is a good commentator. He was awful last year and saturday proved he has not improved. Of course my brother and I never won a heisman trophy, but we never flopped in the NFL either. Just because you win a heisman doesn't give you the right to say things that make no sense. Ware thinking WKU had a chance to get back in the game was not too smart. But some feel that is brilliant commentating. I would say if he was good, he wouldn't be on the ESPN regional broadcast team.

If you read my earlier post, I said I had no problem with CLK going for it.

Does anyone else remember all the time times in the past few years that we were 4th and a yard, or 4th and 2 yards... and Fulmer was too scared to take a risk. Sometimes you have to take a chance....

Good call CLK, I think it's good to try it..... never know when you might be playing someone like uf or bama and have to go for it on 4th down

if we were in a 1 td game with any decent opponent then Kiffin kicks it there. Going for it on 4th is not always an automatic call by a coach. We just happened to be playing against a terrible team

I thought the entire crew was bad Saturday. There's was Ware with with a couple stupid comments. Then the sideline lady asked Haynesworth why he was there. And of course Dave Neal.

I like the call - especially the way our D was playing. Though it showed confidence in the O to pick it up and in the D to stop WKU if they didn't

That was the first thing I thought when I read this title. I was going to ask would you have rather him trotted Lincoln out for a 70+ field goal? Beat me to it!
