Going back for Mel Tucker??

Is Tucker a better defensive mind than Smart, Saban, or Muschamp? Is he a better recruiter than any of those guys?

I would say he's NOT a better defensive mind or recruiter than any of those three. You can also add Pruitt to that list. My guess is that most Georgia fans are happy with Tucker, but understand he wants to be a HC somewhere or perhaps get back to the NFL as a DC. I suspect most would say he is replaceable. The fact that Tucker hasn't been at the top of the list of any of the top HC positions that have come open says a lot IMO. He's a solid coach, but I don't think he's the guy Tennessee fans were hoping for.

What I see is, points allowed while with Jacksonville: 24th, 27th, 11th, 29th.

So you are ignoring overall defense which is what we were discussing.

But he did well for the talent and is well repected.

What about the Ohio State team he was dc for? They had a top twenty defense. What about UGA? Top 5 this year.

He has success at every level.

Get head coach: Venables or Pruitt

Next get defensive coordinator: Mel Tucker

Next get offensive coordinator: Call Tee Martin

OR

Fulmer hires Pruitt as head coach. Talk assistant coaches.

Pruitt says "Can we Mel Tucker as defensive coordinator?"
Fulmer says "I will get Tee Martin as offensive coordinator."

But on the plus side he would be cheap and hire and do as the AD tells him.

I’m starting to think this and add Tee would be very nice! Championships are won with the running game and defense and great recruiting.

I would like the Tucker hire even more if he brings Chaney and Pittman along for the ride!

Absolutely he can. He was ranked 20 in nation by 247 sports. That's really good. He also had two other assistants that may come with him that were ranked 13 and 26. That would be basically 3 of the top 25 recruiters on the same staff. Pretty strong if my opinion matters (and it don't)
