He also just spout out a bunch a gardbage about Durant "wanting" to stay for another season. I don't care what rhetoric Durant spouts about wanting a 4.0 or to win a NC... he's going to be playing in the NBA next season.

i would be a bit surprised, but not completely shocked, if Durant stays for another year. He is NBA ready obviously, and all signs point to him leaving, but some kids get to college with no intention of staying, and realize they enjoy the life. he could be one of those kids.

Players such as Peyton, Leinart, and Joakim Noah are the few that I can think of that could have legitimately left early. The reason why these players didn't? Because they already had money (or at least their families already had money).

Not to many poor kids from the ghetto staying around longer than necessary...

Does that explain Corey Brewer?

Too bad he didnt do that when the show did their bracket picks BEFORE the tournament had started. He's just jumping on the bandwagon. Plaske is the one that picked UT to the final 4 before the games started.

I think Durant's dad's words may have had something to do with what he said.

SI.com - NBA - Thomsen:*NBA cracks down on*Oden/Durant talk - Friday March 16, 2007 7:00PM

The Boston Celtics were fined $30,000 as a result of contact that took place between executive director Danny Ainge and Durant's family members at a Big 12 tournament game on March 10.

• The Charlotte Bobcats were fined $15,000 for public comments made by minority owner Michael Jordan regarding Durant in an interview posted on the Charlotte Observer's Web site on March 14.

• The Golden State Warriors were fined $15,000 for public comments made by coach Don Nelson regarding Oden and Durant in an interview posted on SI.com on March 9.

Yeah, when you've got Don Nelson, Danny Ainge, and Michael Jeffrey Jordon lusting after you, it is easy to turn down the NBA...

They will be waiting for him next year, too. I think he will go, but I'm not sure he will.

What's the per capita income in Portland? about $12K.

You know, I don't know that but growing up poor in a small town where there is no violence is different than growing up where there is alot of violence. I may be mistaken, but the reason most jump early and claim it's to help their families is because of an imminent danger. There is no violence in Portland.

See what I'm saying or did it not make sense?

Did you think the use of a middle name would provide you with more punch here?

Just used it for effect. he is the greatest basketball player alive and an icon. He's been retired for 3 years and they're still selling his shoes. He is a living legend. Durant is old enough to remember Jordan's last 2-3 rings growing up.

I guarantee you that Durant's dad has a smaller influence on his decision than a living legend...

He's gone... and I can't say I really blame him.

Don't be too sure. You kind of have to know the person to make a statement like that.

And we know who Jordan is anyways. It really didn't change anything to put his middle name in.

I get what you're saying, but disagree that escape from violence is the driver.

In some cases. Some say they jump early to help their families get out of bad situations which is understandable. Whether they actually do it is up to them. (See Pac Man Jones etc).

What I'm saying is that Brewer's parents don't have as much to worry about than say, a family living in east Nashville or such.

Geez! This thread started out praising Woody for picking the Big Orange for the Final Four! How did it go from that to who is going to/should stay or go to the NBA, and who grew up in the ghetto???
