GMAC numbers

I remember back in the day we had a tall skinny kid playing QB. Peyton something was his name.

And then after that there was another tall skinny guy. Ainge I believe was his name.

And last but not least. That tall skinny kid Tyler Bray could really sling it.
As a sophomore, Ainge was listed at 6'6" 212, Bray, 6'6" 210. Would be surprised if, with today's nutrition emphasis, that GMAC won't be > 210.

Drew Brees was barely 6'0. You can either play QB or you can't. The weight is needed for durability. Much more concerned with where he is mentally as a college QB.
All this talk but you’ll find no facts on “weight needed for durability”. It’s a want, and mostly in fans heads. He’s a QB, not a linebacker. If our QB is getting hit that much, there’s a good chance he’s at risk for injury no matter the size.

At his height, he needs to be at 220/225 to survive the seasonal pounding. Bench press doesn't mean all that much in passing velocity. It looks like he is good there. Nah, don't believe the 5.5+ speed--probably more like 5.7+. I wonder what he dead lifts? My Grandson just turned 15 in Oct. deadlifts 365lbs 10 times and Benches 225 x 2 and squats 500+ and lasered timed at 4.8. So the numbers for a college sophomore leaves a lot to be desired--especially in the legs.

Apparently GMAC weighed in at 207 lbs
Runs 4.53 and Benches 225 x 2

Faizon was 223 lbs
Ran 4.53 and did not bench.
In hs he benched 275 as a sophomore fwiw.

Be interesting to see what these numbers will turn into by July.
These numbers are not factual. Not even close. Nothing personal, but wherever or whoever gave you these numbers definitely fudged them. Most of the time, high school coaches do this to help their players get better looks. Example, gmac currently probably weighs less than 200, running a 5.0 and benching 185lbs is more realistic. He definitely is not running a 4.5 or benching 225lbs.

Talk about fictitious numbers, you top the list.

You may be thinking of Bert Jones who played for the Colts in NFL. Similar lanky build.
Bert Jones wasn’t lanky at all by standards in the 1970s. He was 6’3 and 210-215 and that was before modern day weight lifting programs. He also had one of the strongest arms in NFL history

For a comparison, I picked Trevor Lawrence. Similar height, 220lbs, and hardly muscle bound. He moves pretty well as a QB and takes what hits the NFL still allows on QBs.

I'd like to see G-Mac weigh 215 at least and that's doable from 207 without a doubt.

I've said he's skinny but I'm coming around on him. If Heupel's ready, I guess I'm in.

Exactly what I have been saying, Milton was a pretty good size and got hurt. I personally do not think size has much to do with injuries.

From what little I have seen of him on film, he has a surprisingly good spin move for a quarterback, which, needless to say, greatly enhances his ability to elude tacklers. His height, frame and mobility remind me, if memory serves me correctly, of a lanky Arkansas quarterback whose name I can't recall.
I think the guy you’re thinking of was very fast and ended up playing wr in the NFL …. And the got busted for drugs ….. Matt Jones

Bert Jones was tall and long-limbed. He was 210 at his reported NFL weight and thinner in college. Not too far from GMac’s 207. I was trying to help someone remember a thin, talented QB named Jones who played in the SEC not criticizing Jones who was awesome.
