Gloom, despair and agony on us... (merged)

Used to group text about the games when I wasn't in attendance but you know it's bad when people are over complaining in the group text. In fact we don't even text about the game anymore.

We haven't looked impressive in years.

I agree, it’s not fun. You have a ton of old philosophy that just doesn’t apply in 2020. Pruitt is boring across the board. My original thought was, well that’s probably good for us with the former clowns we’ve had ( i actually exclude Kiffin because he could coach), but now I see it for what it is.

I’m not a Nega-Vol or a bandwagon fan or any of that. I’ve been a Vol fan my whole life. I’ll always be a Vol fan. I have a shared history with my Dad and my family as we’ve watched the games over the years. BUT, it’s just not fun anymore.

You remember how everything kind of revolved around football Saturday? You wouldn’t plan a wedding on a home game. You went to the game, tailgated or cooked out with the family. If you met a stranger on Monday, you could say “how about that game” and they knew exactly what you were talking about.

I used to watch every second of every game. Now I flip the channels. I’ll miss a little here or there. I’ve even turned off the game. I never used to do that. I don’t follow sports radio and stuff like a used to. It just doesn’t matter. We’re irrelevant. And we’ve been that way for 15 years. It’s sad. I hate it. And you’ve lost an entire generation of fans. Young people don’t watch the Vols.

I don’t know what it will take. But this isn’t fun anymore. I’m not giving up. The Vols will always have my heart. But, it’s tough to be a Tennessee Vol.
I’ve felt this exact same way this year.... I felt terrible last Saturday sitting, watching with my wife and kids. I knew we would lose, they knew we were losing but we kept watching but I can’t do it anymore. I’ve felt multiple times this year that I’ve wasted my family and my time hoping for something that just isn’t going to happen. It sucks

I don’t have that kind of pull, but I’ll pass along what one of the most successful ADs I’ve ever had the chance to spend time with said. “If you run the department with the goal of satisfying every person in the stands, you might as well go ahead and sit with them.”

The point is this: Knowing how your fans feel is very important and should be a part of your process. But making decisions based on the whims of people on social media or message boards puts you on the fast track to failure. Have a plan, stick with it. Changing your plan every time there’s a setback gets you nowhere.

That might be true if this was out first setback. Unfortunately it is our FOURTH

Man I miss the days back in our glory years in the 90’s me and my dad went to 4 homes a year some seasons drove 370 miles and it was worth it we sure didn’t see many losses back then at Neyland. I don’t think I fully appreciated it back then being a national contender and SEC contender every year and being a regular in the Top ten I just thought that was the way it would always be. It sucks that UT football hasn’t been enjoyable in so long.

I now know what being a Vandy fan must feel like. We are the punching bag of the SEC.
Completely different sir, or mam?
They are expected to be trash every year, we arent. I grew up watching us in the 90’s. Every loss took weeks to get over back then. I wouldn’t even watch sports highlight shows I was so upset back then.
now it’s expected we lose every single game. Every game is a loss, unless the unexpected happens. Like last year with MSU. (How sad is that).
This is pathetic in every possible way. And it’s so clear how to make it better hurts worse.
go hire a ****ing winning coach and watch us accend!!!! Tired of the decision making by our “higher ups!). Enough is enough. Get us Freeze... or someone comparable (is no one) or keep sucking and keep losing the fan base.

At some point this nightmare has to end. It never will by employing coordinators, or “winners” in lower divisions

. I feel you on that back when we were elite a loss used to bother me for a week I was so upset. Now i just shrug it off and I’m over it pretty quick you just become numb to it after awhile. We have to get this thing straightened out ASAP we just have to many resources and too much money to flounder at the bottom every year and accept mediocrity like a Vanderbilt or Kansas its ridiculous.

Didn’t even watch the game. First time in years I’ve not watched or attended the game. But just couldn’t get any enthusiasm to watch a bunch of players and coaches who don’t want to be there. Checked the score afterwards and thought “yep...just what I expected.”

People who drive 400 miles and spend thousands to watch this team in another clusterf... of a game need another hobby. I would rather burn the money and fall down my steps- saves time and you end up feeling the same. Save gas, dont pollute - stay home. I have been a fan for 68 years and there were other bad times like the mid-sixties when I was in UT, but they never lasted more than 4-5 years. Our ADs have sunk the program with bad hires and wasted dollars. They make FB season miserable for Vol followers. Heads will roll once again and the sooner the better. PS I used to give thousands to UT, no more.

Remember when we said, "The sun rises in the East and sets in the West, and Tennessee NEVER loses to UK or Vandy!"

Man that was long ago

Apathy use bother me, when it comes to Tennessee football. Now, I don't care that I don't care. Who else is in the same boat?

How do you think Nebraska, Michigan, Penn State, fans feel. How do you stop the slide, I think shifting demographics are hurting historically power programs. The Vols are in a tough spot, Clemson, North Carolina, UGA, Bama, UF, are recruiting at historical highs. Ole Miss will get skill players from Memphis so will MSU. I think you can preach playing time for young guys but if you don’t win you are screwed especially with the portal essentially creating free agency.

The only enjoyment I get from Tennessee football is coaching searches. They inevitably go horribly wrong, but they are fun for awhile. Soon.

It’s that time AGAIN:
Time for a Tennessee coaching search, Let the fun begin
Go Vowels!

There is so much wrong with this Tennessee team, I’m not sure any coach could win with the current players........ just too many missing parts
