Article on why he thinks Tennessee is not Final Four material
Story here

This article assumes that we get no better on defending inside the arc between now and March.

Real groundbreaking stuff. Good teams defend well, are efficient offensively, and win comfortably. I never would have thought that.

"If the Vols don't turn you over, you'll probably score a deuce. They also aren't great on the offensive glass or from behind the arc."

We all know this, Glockner, the point is that the Vols will turn you over.

i thought it was a pretty fair assessment. I think our half court offense is very average to poor.

I found that funny about the Xavier game. All the people I was sitting around were saying after the game...we've got to get better at rebounding the ball and we've got to do better at not turning the ball over. Granted, that would be a good idea. But, what they didn't seem to realize is that the Vols do that to everyone.

Oh. My. God....I never thought that good offense and defense was what made a team great. All this time I was certain it was how many 3 point attempts you took! Thanks so much to Mr. Glockner for that very thoughtful and imaginative article. I also never thought that a young team like this could ever get better in the next 3 months with their 3 point shooting, rebounding, and defense.

I have watched a lot of bball over the years, probably more so this season (early) than the last few. Does not make me an expert, but I think the VOLS defense can make up for some offensive problems. I definitely think they are 1 of top 10 - 12 teams. A final 4 is not out of the picture or dreaming.

Sorry Hat I geuss you need to learn a thing or two about college B ball. :)

PS_ The team that scores more points wins EVERY TIME.

A typical UT-hater in the media---they never stop. UT will definitely be in the Final 4---mark it down.

I got on the chat with Glockner today and asked him about this. I reminded him that Crews was out, for now, but there was ample time to ramp up efforts on defense before March. I also pointed out that no matter who we play, we will force turnovers - lots of em. He gave me pretty much the same drivel about being an all or nothing defense and that the chances of winning a series of games against class opponents are very, very slim.

The teams that make the Final Four are going to be the four that are playing the best in March. We've won some tough games already and I don't think anyone thinks we're playing anywhere near what this team is capable of. All this statistical mumbo-jumbo doesn't mean a thing, especially based on more-or-less meaningless pre-conference games.

:eek:k::eek:k::eek:k: I gotta disagree :boxing2: There will be teams playing the best they can play (100 %) ,but a team with way more talent playing @ 80 % that can beat them . I think with the fairly tough conference schedule , it's got to benefit the vols in the post season , It surely can't hurt !!

The vols have so much depth that any one of there players at anytime can get hot. I think they are starting to learn not to always depend on lofton. Because hes not on this year.
