Recently there seemed to be a contingent of posters who were of the opinion that Elarbee could not develop players he recruited.
Heavy reliance on transfers and Pruitt-era players were the foundation for this.

Well there is strong evidence now that this concern and talking point is not relevant to the 2025 squad.

In fact the shuffling of the line vs. Syracuse on game day showed the value of cross training players and Perry, Sham and others were outstanding.

I thought I would mention this as the Vol offensive performance was quite good and Elarbee’s recruits are an impressive factor in that success so far.

He’s a solid coach who’s becoming a better recruiter every year.

I’ve never had an issue with him.

We are missing an entire class on the OL and I think this is the first year his recruits have started. So, I get the concern, but I am more than happy to put it aside.

Perry is a beast and I am glad to see Umarov getting some playing time. Of course, it will be good to see Sanders too.

Elarbee has always made the most of what he has had. Glad to see the recruiting starting to pay off.

o line is a developmental position in an era of 5 and six year seniors. Every school has had multi year starters on the lines since athletes were granted extra eligibility. He has put together another well oiled machine this year and Pendleton and Moe were amazing gets out of the portal.

I like Elarbee as a coach and a developer. Anyone who complains about that is talking nonsense. But as a recruiter, I’ve heard they’re overcompensating a lot to get the talent they’ve been getting on the line. Kind of an awkward dude who isn’t really into the recruiting part of it, but overall, a really solid OL coach. But I will say on the bright side, once the players have been in the program, they become more and more fond of him. All of this is hearsay, but I’ve heard it more than once and the math checks out.

I'll admit I was concerned.

He did great with a few of the guys he inherited and the transfer portal, but I'm very relieved to see players he recruited start to make an impact.

Elerbee took way too much criticism for the QB’s inability to play. Now he’s going to get more credit than he deserves for having a QB who deserves to play at this level. This is a team game and if you’re paying attention, Joey Aguliar avoided some pressure while staying inside the pocket against Syracuse by stepping away from the oncoming edge rushers. Nico exacerbated the pass rush by running away from his blockers and not paying attention to the edge.

OK, so we can be happy about pass protection now. Let’s not forget this is a team game. You can’t celebrate our incredible RB production without an offensive line. Elerbee has been good since he took the job and it’s ridiculous to claim otherwise.

I'm definitely rethinking my stance on Elarbee and will be more than willing to eat crow. I do want to see how our OL performs against SEC opponents.
