Your thread title alone is enough to laugh at. Whether it's true or not doesn't matter (and I'm not disputing your veracity), it's the way you went about bringing it up and terrorizing the subject.

You don't think we fully vet a guy at this point? I guarantee you we do.

This is a good hire, and besides some insolent fans, it appears that the national media approves of this hire as well. They're the real ones to worry about, because they're the ones that bring down programs nowadays.

I don't disagree that he has to be accountable for his record. The academic fraud debacle at FSU leaves room for justified criticism, but it is nuts to worry about him being from Bama....or any other school for that matter.

When it comes to the logical fallacy, if you think anyone would give a damn about a logical fallacy if UT had another problem like with Kiffin and Pearl you're being naive in order to look smart on message board. No one will give a damn what he didn't do at FSU if we get in trouble again because someone did something without his knowledge. The press, the country and an infractions comittee will look at the way we hired an A.D. that left during an ineligibility scandal at another school to manage us while we were already on probation and say we brought on ourselves because we just didn't get it. That's as cold hard fact as it gets, and its not worth putting ourselves in that position just because David Hart's probably didn't do anything wrong while a lot of people around him were.

If we get into trouble under him, whether its through his doing or outside his control, the long knives will come out. The national media will have no recollection of and no concern about supporting the hire yesterday and today. They will slam us for hiring a guy who had one scandal under his leadership as a risk we should have avoided, and throw us back in the same editoral footnote pool as tOSU, Auburn and Miami. As James Carville famously said "The press givith, and go f*** yourself."

I disagree and believe he is a good hire....much better than the Louisiana guy....at 62 y/o, i wonder how long he will be AD.

to be honest,I'm not sure what to think about this hire,i don't really care if he comes from Bama , the questions from FSU bothers the hell out of me, I'm hoping he will be a good AD,seems to be a good 2nd one,for what that is worth,Is this what the money for the search firm came up with?

Show me where I stated that I had no knowledge of what happened at FSU? I stated I don't care what the details were down there, and I'll give you a hint. No one knows what all the details of what down there. In large part that's because in those messes no one really knows for sure how much someone turned a blind eye to willingly, how much they actively pursued, and how much they got stabbed in the back. Knowing all the publiclly available details tells just enough to get yourself in the position to make a bad decision based on imperfect information.

And you are way too unknowledgable about life to lecture people on their opinions if you categorize a legitmate secnario during the hiring process as irrelevant. If you think its worth the risk to hire him anyway in spite of the risk of a rogue coach appearing while he's running the depart - fine, I can respect that.

However, I gurantee everyone actually involved in this what if'd it, and it mattered to them. Otherwise, with his resume, he'd been a lot higher on the selection list. There is a reason a 13 year A.D. for a huge program was sitting on the bench for four years - its because my "irrelevant what if's" mattered a hell of a lot to every program that's changed A.D.'s since 2007, most of whom were not on probation after being investigated in 3 sports.

In spite of that, I hope he succeeds. At any rate I'm done arguing with you. All you have to offer is bluster. You've yet to try to do make any salient point or go out on the limb with something positive and productive on either side of the argument. The most you've had to offer is poorly formated quotes and angry verbal assualts that you honestly and errantly believe are implemented with sound logic and advanced rhetoric. I'm not going to waste any more time them. Enjoy throwing around more of the same trash to get the last word in. I'm sure it will make you feel better about yourself.

My first choice was Chris Del Conte but I'd have taken Blackburn over hart any day.

That's why I said the bammer part bugs me just a little, Sorry I can't help but dislike anything Alabama. But as I posted my concern is that we just avoided NCAA trouble and we hire a guy who was lead at a School who got hit hard for actions that took place while he was there.

Shouldn't "Guru's" be held to a higher standard than this? One would think so anyway. I vote VolBeef88 be removed of his Guru title immediately.
