Give me your Top 3 canidates...

I’d like to see any of the following matches up with Shoop staying as DC

Mullen, very good coach, develops talent well, would have more talent at UT

Macintyre same as the above

Peterson, not likely imo

Penn States OC

Justin Fuentz, great game coach

Just a little off topic, but it would not surprise me, if Butch is let go before season end, to see Coach Fulmer fill in until season end......

Les. Miles.
This is moronic. Les is a hybrid of the worst parts of Fulmer and Butch- old guy who was exposed when his competition improved (PF), and couldn't develop a qb, so his offense was inept, and made horrible in-game decisions (BJ). I'm sure the response will be, "but he can recruit", so could Phil and Butch.

The wheels came off this program when David Cutcliffe left to take the Duke job. He needs to come back and change the tires, himself.

Yes, he is 63. He may only have 4 or 5 good years left to coach. However, if you want to see UT compete for championships IMMEDIATELY... then he is the guy.

Coach Cut can be the bridge to the day when one of his disciples... Gruden, Peyton, Tee, Jim Bob ... is ready to take the job.

Cutcillfe would win the SEC east within the next two seasons... probably twice.

You "want it now?" You want to see Vol offensive linemen fire off the ball and take it to a D-line like the one at Alabama? You want to see receivers running open and quarterbacks hitting them in stride and on time? You want to see brute force AND deception when the offense is inside the 5?

Of course you do. :)

If you want to see all those characteristics in UT football in 2018, then jump on the coach Cut bandwagon. (With ME...) lol

Totally agree. Les is a more successful Butch Jones.

Old guy? You lost me at that one. 'Remember Mike DeBord? All those "He's too old" attitudes did irreparable damage to his desire to stick to the program...that and Butch...and had to have led to his leaving this embattled situation. How many records did his offense set at UT in '16? Get off that shtick! Miles isn't too old. Neither is Bob Stoops. IMHO, the potential HCs out there this season...those who would maybe come to Knoxville...is encouraging. That quite a number of them would be an improvement to Butch is a given. Miles would win here. So would Stoops. For that matter, close to a dozen of those current and budding big-time HCs could arguably make UT into a winner; place them back into the national conversation. I say open the safe for Chip Kelly and take him before he winds up beating us down the road someplace else (floorduh?). No other coach out there provides the pizzaz to their programs than he can. Let's get him then hold back the urge (listen negas) to blast him before he's got his "ducks" in a row at UT. That would also go for any other coach Currie winds up bringing here. Note: Please don't confuse this post as one which is, nonetheless, suggesting supporting some non-P5 "riser." NO EXPERIMENTS!

so you don't agree he's too old, what about lack of qb development and offensive production? What about horrible clock mgmt. and in-game decisions?

What about the Natty he won? And beating bama with all those weaknesses you talk about.....

Kelly isn't a good fit IMO.
Franklin isn't leaving PSU although I'd love to have him.
Patterson would be a top choice, but it ain't happening.
Fuente would be a great hire IMO
Brohm is a bit green, but he might be the next big thing when it's all said and done.
Frost would be a flight risk and we'd always be looking over the shoulder for Nebraska to poach him

We hire miles, Petrino, or Leach and UT will be dead to me.

I did not say I liked it. But the possibility is out there. I do think Fulmer has the ability to hold things together for the interim time though.

It's not a possibility. The idea that UT would hand over the team to a guy that hasn't coached in over a decade is absurd.

Go after Chip Kelly and Chris Petersen the same way you "allegedly" went after Gruden.

Offer 7-8 million a year and the keys to the city. Make a "no" from them seem illogical.

Peterson seems to be a west coast guy all the way. As much as I'd love Patterson and/or Peterson, it's just not happening. Better focus on Fuente, Brohm and Frost

63. Fired for his inability to change. We can do better. He’d be an upgrade, but who wouldn’t at this point?

Ok. What are we looking for in a coach? I think we can all agree on a few important things. Player development, X's and O's, great recruiter and proven success on the biggest stage, like the SEC. Please provide proof that Miles doesnt fit all of those better than just about any other coach out there.

Also, how do you know Miles hasnt changed since being fired? You dont. The only reason Miles ended up looking bad was a few bad hires and Nick Saban. If Saban never came to Bama, Miles would have probably dominated the SEC. Miles is a home run hire. And statistics prove that.
