I'm with you man.

Delusional fan-base need not apply.

Kiffin said "We'll be good when we're good. I don't know how long that will take. We're a long way from being good."

That wasn't downplaying for our opponents. That's an honest assessment.

We'll be fine. The worst part is weathering the crap coming from the uninformed and other-wise ignorant portion of the fan base.

Chill and don't let them get you riled.

I'm with you! We have to give him time to get his players. A top 10 class with only two months to recruit, and now with the commitments we got coming for next year it should be a top 5 class or maybe even the number 1 class.

I still question why Stephens is not playing.Obviously Crompton is awful. Could Stephen do worse?

I don't understand how anyone could say he called a bad game. We were a couple of catches or a speacial teams play away from a win.

Irvin's de-commitment had nothing to do with our performance on the field. There was a good chance he wasn't going to qualify for UT anyway.

Recruits don't pay as much attention to on-field performance as you think they do. The UCLA game is evidence of that, when we landed 3 top recruits after losing.

"Landed 3 top recruits?????!!"

Last time I checked, National Signing Day is 5 months away. I still wonder how many of those "landed" recruits are going to stick around when Kiffin has a few more performances like last night.

After all, why wouldn’t a recruit just go 300 miles to the Southwest to a program that seems to be successfully turning itself around after going 5-7 last year? We might look good on Rivals and Scout right now. However, if we keep piling on the losses and Auburn keeps piling on the wins, I imagine we’ll see more and more ship jumpers. National Signing Day is a long way off.

7-18 -- the enormous white elephant in the parlor room.

Kiffin will do well! If any of us expected more than 5-7 wins this year then we were kidding ourselves. Heck, we may not win more than 4 games but we will be much better next year and by 2011 we will be one of the teams that competes for SEC championships year in and year out. This season has done exactly zero to dampen my enthusiasm for Kiffin and this staff. At least this team is disciplined and leads the SEC in least penalties committed when last year we led the league and were like 5th in the NCAA in penalties committed. This program is in good hands and we just need to be patient.

Orgeron brought in plenty of recruits to a terrible Ole Miss program. We'll be fine in recruiting.

I'm specifically talking about offensive play calling - hasn't been that great - the game plans have been pretty good though. Look at our play calling inside the 10-yard line this year. And once again there's no reason Crompton shouldn't be without a check down option on every pass play due to how inept he can be at times.

I'm not saying it's been horrible - but it's been average, maybe a bit below average. But very average players can also mess with your play calling.

Doesn't matter how good the play calling is when you have a qb basically playing with a blindfold on. Kiffin could call the perfect game, but still...blindfold.

+1000! its just depressing to see all the negativity on the message boards these days...they should create a board from exclusively negative comments and one for positive comments so that all the so-called "fans" can get there "Cromton/Kiffin sux" fix without annoying the rest of us

We will sign plenty of recruits cause they know they will get to play immediately :lolabove:

Freak, can you split the football forum into two parts? One for intelligent, rational posting with well-thought-out and well-worded discourse, and another for rants, raves, negavols, fair weather fans, and people who can't complete a sentence would be nice. One could be called The Box Seats, the other could be called the Shallow End; it should be obvious which is which.

I'm all for differing opinions and enjoy a good argument as much as the next person, but the collective IQ is dropping at an alarming rate in parallel with the decreasing civility and loss of functional, respectful discourse.

That said, I will officially begin panicking sometime around the middle of the 2011 season if things do not improve. He deserves that long.

Listen guys, you all need to chill out.. Yeah, I want us to win every single game by 100 points, its not going to happen. Kiffen did say this is a rebuilding year. Rome was not built in a day. It does take time. In Pete Carroll's 1st year at USC, he went (6-6), Jim Tressel 1st year at Ohio St. (7-5), Bob Stoops 1st year at Oklahoma (7-5), Joe Paternos 1st year at Penn St. (5-5), Nick Saban's 1st year at Alabama (6-6), Bobby Bowdens 1st year at Florida St (5-6), Frank Beamers 1st year at VT (2-9)...
These University's NEVER-EVER Gave up on their Coach and his decisions or the team. A bunch of you all need to get a life and be patient. I promise you there will be better times to come... Coach Kiffin will stick with Crompton.. So get over it.. He is going to stand firm with decision and ride it out.. We will finish (6-6).. . If you wanna beat Tennessee, you better beat them this year... because next year... JUST LOOK OUT! So please quit complaining.. YOU WIN AS A TEAM AND YOU LOSE AS A TEAM. Your either ALL VOL or your nothing at all!

I think you meant deep breath!

Also:

Universities
You're and
you're

You are correct, however, about the Vol prospects for future football excellence. The future definitely does look intensely Orange. Go Vols!

Can we please stop pretending that Kiffin is going to be any better in season 2 or 3 than he is this year?

After a year or two of strong recruiting classes like we're seeing now, the future is looking very VERY bright... It'll take time, I'm willing to wait and be patient.

We all have to be more patient. I will go as far as to say next year will not be much better. Our O-line will probably be worse next year. To be honest, I think our chances are far better in 2011. Kiffin, by then will have a lot of his player's and they will have a little experience to go along with the younger player's. As I have said this is going to take some time. I get frustrated as much as the next fan but the reality of the situation is there in front of everyone who watches the games. One thing I am glad about is we have not been blown out of any games this year.
