I am not saying that i've seen enough to think he is the guy to lead us back to the top or that he is going to be fired in 2 years either...I know if he fails things could get worse, yes worse!! Not all great programs recover from down years like Bama has or like USC did under Carrol....Look at Minnesota, they were a elite program at one point and look at them now...Texas A&M is another good example, you could look at UCLA and they are in Cali where you have great talent in state. If we fire Dooley to early then nobody will come here, recruits or coaches....Look at the trouble we had getting a coach this time around, we got truned down by a defensive cordinator and head coaches at AF and Duke..It hurts to lose, but getting rid of Dooley could kill our program for the next 20/30 years...Ask Texas A&M, UCLA and Minnesota, not all programs recover as fast as others.

We're staring head on into a 2-10 or MAYBE 3-9 season. How much worse than that can things realistically get?

Why is that?? Because we have had 3 coaches in three years and have lost over 30 players in that time and thats not counting seniors that graduated either...We had 7 freshman on the field at the same time at one point last night..You can't beat a top 10 team with the shape we are in...We will beat Memphis and Vandy...Finish no worse than 4-8 and that sucks, but next year they will be older and we will have better depth and we will win 6/7 games....Now you get rid of Dooley then you got 4 coaches in 5/6 years and that is a program killer.

I don't see how they can get rid of Dooley. They're married to him for at least 3 years. Swapping coaches anytime soon , you might as well stick a fork in the program it would be officially done.

Having a lot of coaches in a short period of time isn't a program killer. It's a hindrance, but it doesn't kill you forever. Heck, Alabama had 3 coaches in a lesser span of time than we did back in 02 or 03.

UCLA and Texas A&M aren't elite. UCLA has exactly .5 of a national title in it's history, and TAMU shares their only national title with SC in '39. Those aren't the programs to look at.

They also don't play in a league that signing a recruiting class that is ranked in the top 25 lands you at around 9th, 10 th in the conference. Let Tennessee switch coaches again and see how many elite players they sign. Stick a fork in them at that point.

Stick a fork in them? Really?

Tennessee would be down for a long while, but it's not going to kill the program forever.

I cannot believe we are talking about firing a coaching staff. You knuckleheads (and you know who you are) are unbelievable. Bottom line: This will take several years to play out. The success or failure of this staff will be determined by their ability to bring in competitive players over the next 3 years. If we had hired my cousin's neighbor from down the street to coach, you would have a right to question. I could take any situation in life that does not put me on top of the world and second guess it until I fall apart. We knew what would happen this year. We all agreed. Now dry it up!

It would kill it for a lot longer than you think. I said from the beginning that making a rush hire (Dooley) wasn't the answer, but they're stuck with him good or bad. Hiring anyone outside of Nick Saban in the next year or so you might as well find something else to follow.

spend somereal cash, spend what it takes, bring in a real big name, they will come if paid, this is the land of greed, the Dooley years are a complete waste, this guy is terrible, have said so since the hire, and I still believe so, the Shula years are under way at UT
