Give Butch a raise

No. You don't lose two home games you're favored to win and then win ugly against the worst team in the SEC and expect to get a raise. He'll get a nice bonus for a bowl, so win that and everybody's happy.

One of the loses just happened to be to a team that won the SEC East, and won 9 of their last away games....:crazy

They beat Vandy without their star defensive and offensive players......See how many other teams could do that.....:crazy:

Some people would complain about the taxes they had to pay on their lotto ticket...

I'm sure you have your excuses all polished up for the UF loss, too.

And lotto tickets are like emoticons.

Head Coach School Salary
Nick Saban Alabama $6.9 million
Kevin Sumlin Texas A&M $5 million
Les Miles LSU $4.3 million
Steve SpurrierSouth Carolina$4.0 million
Gus Malzahn Auburn $3.85 million
Bret Bielema Arkansas $3.2 million
Mark Richt Georgia $3.2 million
Gary Pinkel Missouri $3.1 million
Hugh Freeze Ole Miss $3.0 million
Will Muschamp Florida $3.0 million
Butch Jones Tennessee $3.0 million
Dan Mullen Mississippi State $2.65 million
Mark Stoops Kentucky $2.2 million

If we win the East next year (or do better) or go 8-4 (or better), then let's discuss a raise.

At this point, the intangibles (ie, the trend) looks good, but the numbers...not so much. The trend must continue where the numbers match. Once the two intersect, then let's throw money his way. Make him earn it.

God, some of you guys seem so desperate and weepy I bet you're still 40 year old virgins. Man up and set expectations and hold to them. Quit folding like cheap lawn chairs.

I think Butch is doing well and we are heading in the right direction, but for goodness sake make him deliver on a good record. Don't throw money at him that we may regret later until we have fully realized his ability to deliver...not before that. Some of you must absolutely get took by car dealers.

I am not saying or indicating we have the best coach in the country, I am just saying Butch did OK with what he had, and he has us on the right track. If you don't think so, you have that option.... just like I have the option to throw your opinion down the toilet. :hi:

What part of my statement is not true? I will be waiting for your dumbass response.....

This part:

See how many other teams could do that.....:crazy:

The fact this has to be explained is kind of sad. They are the worst team in the SEC (3-9) and don't have a single SEC win. Ever other team in the SEC can beat them. Let's not act like beating Vandy is an accomplishment.

I'll take it over the last two year results. Bottom line this team is better since Butch took over, and I don't know how anybody could debate that. Even in the games they lost, they never gave up and were more competitive:rock:

I've said this before and I'll say it again: Butch, unlike Dooley, is on the warpath toward sustained intrastate dominance! The negavols will eat crow by the time Butch retires with several Music City and Libery Bowl championships!

Amen, brother. CBJ can sell, no doubt. But he has ridden the recruiting of Brian Kelly at Central Michigan and Cincinnati. In my northern domicile I've seen both scenarios and, no doubt, just like people say Hoke was a great, value based guy---like the CBJ, but, results after a while have to be the ultimate test.

I admit, have to pay extra for SEC network up here, and can't wait for games, but I' not totally in the CBJ corner yet. I'm holding out to see how he proceeds following the 3rd season where HIS recruits start taking hold and we see how he has evaluated his own staff to up the level of performance from the coaching side.

Like the guy, but he's not top tier coach yet. When he gets there, let's pay him for what he has accomplished.

Let's stop being the kind of parents turned fans who think that every participant should get a blue ribbon for participation. Athletes know it's about performance, execution upon demand.

Was that a bait and switch?

No one said we aren't glad we won. I've repeatedly said Butch has us on the right track.

You originally acted if few teams with some injuries could pull of a win against Vandy. I don't think that's a challenge for anyone in the SEC.

If you are excited about the direction of our program, that's one thing, and I am too. Let's just keep the relativity of our wins in check. Beating Vandy, is well, still just beating Vandy.

Carry on.

He has not earned a pay raise or a pay cut IMO. He has earned more time to get it done. "Give Butch more time" should be the argument.

In the college football world today, where it's so hard to find that "program changing" coach, if you have even the slightest bit of evidence that you mightve found the guy, you HAVE to pay him.

For that reason, I say pay Butch a small raise (maybe 5%) just to let him know we appreciate what he's done thus far overall.

You never know when or why a coach will leave, but u sure don't want it to be because he felt under appreciated.

Butch is definitely turning things around here. Obviously, not there yet, but finally moving in the right direction. I am all for giving him a modest raise. And I think working in Bonuses for future improvement (championships) is great. I think Butch is a great fit for our program and is exactly what we need.

That sez it all-give the man a rise in income- he has earned it. Put a sweetener in the deal- an extra 500 K if we win the east and one more 500 K for an SEC championship. I know we were only 6-6, but look how much better the direction of the program is. Butch said he would restore us to glory- so far-so good. If he bolts for Michigan or somewhere like that, do we really want to start over again? He is not the type to get paid and then get lazy; he is a pure competitor . He wants to be the best.

If Butch wasn't interested in the money at Michigan I don't think we have to worry too much about him leaving for another school. I really do think this is where he wants to be and I think if he ever left on his own it'd be for the NFL.

I would give him a bonus and add more incentives to his contract, wouldnt give him a raise....maybe if we
beat Notre Dame or some other nationally recognized school.
