Maybe we could restructure his deal, but a flat out raise? Naw, goals and rewards for achievements.

Agreed. Negotiate sizeable raises for the whole staff if they land another top 10 recruiting class and are 8-4 or better next year. Bonuses if they win the east.

That would go a long way to ensure thig & co. stick around and keep recruiting their tails off.

Don't we have a losing record after two years. Look I'm definitely not saying we should fire him at this point or anything but why have our expectations gotten so low. Nobody expects to compete for a championship at this point but there have been a bunch of winable games we've played in and lost. Lets not talk about raises and extensions until we have at least an 8 if not 9 win season

Winning any old bowl game is not establishing prominence in my opinion.

Therefore, at this juncture, not raise worthy. Winning the East or SECC, sure. Winning whatever bowl we go to this year is worthy of a bonus.

Financially speaking there is a world of difference between a one-time bonus and a percentage salary increase.

PAY HIM! the dude has worked day and night to get us back yes as of right now we have a losing record with him at 11-12 if he wins bowl game he is .500 what he has done recruiting wise speaks for itself!! pay him before someone else does!

If he loses the bowl, he'll have the same record through 2 years at UT as Derek Dooley.

No. You don't lose two home games you're favored to win and then win ugly against the worst team in the SEC and expect to get a raise. He'll get a nice bonus for a bowl, so win that and everybody's happy.

Michigan has "reached out" to him. He should get a raise based on recruiting alone. Did you characters not hear what our recruits that won TN Mr Football said about him? They love the man and believe in him...can't wait to wear Orange. Yes we should have beaten FL but if you can't see the change coming you are walking around with blinders on.

If that's your argument, then the discussion is premature. Wait and see what NSD brings. Butch is very well-compensated. When recruiting translates into wins, he will be even more so.

OSU's groundskeeper's neighbor's cousin twice-removed heard somebody talking about it on the sidewalk on Michigan Avenue, and Clay Travis saw it on Twitter and reported it. So it must be true.
