Good coaches win close games.

Jones has had 4 now( 2x GA, Vandy, UF) that were well within this teams grasp that could have COMPLETELY dispelled all the questions the past two seasons.

4/17 isn't a good ratio IMO. It needs to improve quickly.

If you have to ask, you're still too pissed off to be unbiased.

On the body of recruiting successes (humongous reduction in violations), S&C and character (with no wins whatsoever), this staff is better than the epic kiffen/dooley failures.

I'm still trying to figure out how Kiffin failed. He made a bowl game with two walk on offensive lineman and a quarterback who flat out stunk his first three years in college.

Exactly!! Kiffin would have beaten FL by 20, went out after the game and banged some strange, and committed at least 3 secondary violations before Sunday. But at least the damn streak would be over!

I'd say all the others are ahead of us as far as on the field progress. We are probably ahead of all three at recruiting

To add to that... He'd have probably made some inflammatory comments in the locker room such as they'll never beat us as long as I'm here... Or their receivers will only go pro at gas pumping ect... Then he'd have done as you suggested. Partied like99. And wwrecked the hell out of his Lexus on the way home before leaving it in a ditch.

Strange, I don't remember him beating Florida.

I did see his offense drop 10 pts on Ole Miss in Oxford on Sat.

I'd argue the opposite regarding Auburn. Overall, its definitely a better team than last year's. It's not even close defensively. Might be the best AU defense since '06.

Just my opinion.

Tennessee has to shore up the OLine soon. Everything else seems headed in the right direction.

Right now the problem is you have a first year (no frosh anymore)player who is a center playing in space as a rt. tackle. You have a rt. tackle playing left tackle because of need.He is beaten by de's because it is possible that he is so "right handed"that he has a problem with a quick left side step.But,right now,this is all we have ready.If Gilliam can come back, Kerbeyson goes to rt. tackle and then we'll see.

Ok, do it! Let's have those 15 right now. That should be no problem for you since you quit counting. Now, these are 15 who could have won with this same line, right? These are the 15 who could beat Florida, who had an advantage over us in players in every single position group, per star ranking, right? These are the coaches who can win with our schedule when we have the best running back in the country held to 89 yards after three quarters and he ends up with 208 because our defense is so gassed after our offense can't stay on the field long enough to give our D a little break, right?

We were told before the beginning of the year it will be another tough one. I guess it's easier to hope and then get pissed off, huh?

Kentucky lost to Florida, beat Vandy, beat a not too good SC team in Lexington,and two other really bad teams--much worse than the Vols first two teams. Get freaking real.

So many coaches on here. Who to believe?????? There is NO comparison in any of the other teams such as Kentucky, Ole Miss, Arkansas. Reason, they haven't been depleted. I know Kentucky sucked for years but they do have upper classmen, as did Arkansas, Ole Miss. Tennessee is having to rely on Freshmen. Repeat with me, 17-18 yr old freshmen with no back ups capable of coming in and resting them occasionally. Worley I think should run some, but I'm not his coach. I thought the middle of the field was wide open Saturday, but yet we didn't take advantage. That's Bajakian's fault. Is he a bad coach? I don't think so. Yes, we put up a lot less points to Florida than Georgia, but really guys???? Georgia don't play defense. Florida has a decent defense. I was at the game Saturday, was disappointed, and knew when we didn't punch in at least one of those times we had the ball deep, that we were in trouble. Another thing, when Worley was hit for the fumble, there was a receiver running wide open that he was throwing to, I think Pig. Had he gotten the ball off, we would be on here rejoicing about the win. Give Butch time. He's doing things right. I think we win 8 games this year. I may be crazy for thinking so, but don't be surprised if we beat either Ole Miss or Alabama or both. This is a talented defense that Tennessee has, and if the offense can manage anything, we are in good shape. Either way, It's GBO.

Texas Tech's defense is awful. We would have probably scored more on them than Georgia. Our offense has one bad game and everyone begins to think we will never score a touchdown again. . . sheesh.

Which game are you labeling as the "bad" one? FL or OU? We scored twice against the Sooners, with the second "drive" starting in the red zone and covering about 15 yards following a turnover.

I was not truly dissatisfied with the coaching or direction until the UF game.

That was a poor effort on multiple levels that let a very winnable game get away. It is the kind of win that has to become routine if Jones is to succeed at UT.

Great teams? The "great" teams we've played the first 17 games of Jones' career at UT have all blown us out (Oregon, Bama, Auburn, Missouri, Oklahoma).

He gets credit for beating a very good 2013 SCar team and hanging with the good 2013 & 2014 Georgia teams...... but in my mind, the credit he gets for those 3 games are significantly outweighed by the 2 horrid losses he now has on his resume in 2013 Vandy and 2014 Florida..... both exposed his shortcomings as a coach able to get his teams ready to play and compete for wins on Saturdays IMHO.

Stoops has been more impressive than I ever dreamed. I still think they'll stumble when playing better teams (I don't think Spurrier was exaggerating when he said they weren't very good)... but the Cats have been impressive so far.

Honestly the jury is out on how great Oklahoma is. Their best win is against either us or West Virginia. They've lost to the only ranked team they've played (#25 TCU).

I think we're obviously a better team over all, however we still can't seem to pull the trigger when the game is on the line. That's the biggest problem.

Even with our OL woes we have still been in a position to win every game, but we've found a way or two to blow it every time. Mistakes will happen. It's when they happen that really matters.

Until we can break the quicksand curse we're going to have a problem no matter how good the line is. We still have opportunities this year to reverse the curse, so hope is not yet lost on this year's team. It is dim at the moment, but not lost.

There will come a day when we can no longer blame Dooley. Before that day comes, we had better figure out how to win a close football game no matter how good or bad the line is.
