I can't argue with that. What CBG has done in conference play this year is remarkable. And CBP getting Tennessee's first SEC championship in 41 years is at least as impressive.

Question: if Bruce isn't the national coach of the year, who is?

I guess the fact that San Diego made the tourney helped his cause a bit.

Absolute robbery. No coach who lost to San Diego (and I don't care if they made the tournament, it's San Diego, at home) and Gardner-Webb in the same season, both at home, should not win SEC Coach of the Year. Kentucky beat nobody of note on the road in the conference. Last I checked, Kentucky finished just about where they were expected to, just like Tennessee. It's an absolute joke if he shares COY with Pearl. If it's not gonna happen this for CBP, it's never gonna happen.

i mean theres no doubt that bruce pearl should get the award because what tennessee has done this year is remarkable and i think the reason billy clyde got it was because even with the injuries and the horrilbe start to the season billy kept his cool and got 12 wins in the sec. all 4 of uk's sec losses were on the road to.

I disagree with that. If CBP sticks around he will win his share, as will BCG.

It seems BCG won due to his own problems earlier in the year. If they had beaten GW and SDU and had the same SEC record I wonder if he would have won?

I say no. He inadvertently lowered expectations then beat those expectations.

That has certainly been a hot topic around Lexington....and it sounds kind of familiar (CPF *cough*cough*)

Naturally it is often very difficult for the conference favorite to win the award.

No way that Pearl wins National COY. He had a top 10 team preseason. National COY usually goes to the guy whose team was outside top 25 and ends up in top 10-15. I would vote for Matt Painter from Purdue.

No one is crowning CPF Coach of the Year.

You had people debating his SEC COY chances after last season.

He effectively used the BCG model to make last season seem special.

Lost to a team you have no business losing to, get routed by an inferior opponent then beat some conference teams at home. Viola SEC COY.

BCG was just a little more successful in the voting.

Except Fulmer hasn't beat those expectations yet. It's much eaiser to rebuild a basketball program than it is to rebuild a football program.

Yes, just released, co-coaches of the year are Pearl and Gillespie. Unreal. You're rewarding a coach for sucking it up early in the year.

Congrats to J.P. Prince for 6th man of the year.

I didn't see that coming either.

I'm wondering what in the world the four coaches that voted for someone other than Bruce or BCG were thinking.
