Gillespie is out

No explanation has been given anywhere yet. But CRG wanted to stay on staff, AND Pruitt wanted him here. So the only conclusion I can logically draw, is surely it hasta be Coach Gs decision, probly for an upgrade is the only way he dips out. Maybe for an OC offer at a smaller school.....or my best guess is maybe a RBs Coach offer from the NFL. Maybe after Kamara has made the big splash, the NFL has taken notice of Coach G? Maybe the Colts offered him their RBs Coach spot since they just finally hired a new HC a couple days ago. They are the only Team still filling out their main position coaching spots. All speculation of course. That's just all that would make sense to me. Unless sumthin crazy happened behind the scenes that we haven't heard yet. Smh. Surely it has to be for an upgrade, right?

Tell me again why this is really a big deal? We should be upset that the last tie to a 4 win season is gone?

Clean slate

Gillespie has been great here. No doubt about it. However, in 2017 (according to 247), he was the 16th best recruiter in the league. He was the 3rd best running back coach recruiter in the league. Not saying he is not good enough and hasn't proved himself on the field, but we need to wait and see who we can lure here before jumping off the bridge. I appreciate all he did and wish him success anywhere he goes. When we play him, if he stays in the league, I hope he sucks that day. :)

Clean slate idea is fine. Just expect several more sub-500 seasons before progress might be seen. No problem if you have a reasonable outlook. the probability that two straight Alabama DC's have tremendous success is negligible. That's ok too. The stands will fill up for the hope of eventual 6-8 win teams. Copacetic.

Dell McGee? Jay Graham? Rush Propst? Montario moved up to RB coach? If Gillespie is out, CJP has someone ready to replace him....

I doubt McGee would happen since he’s been a rockstar on the recruiting trail for UGA and he just got a raise, but that would be every great sports analogy rolled into one for UT. Maybe a “slam-run” or “Grand-dunk” if you will

For anyone that wants to get upset with Pruitt just remember we could be talking about team 122, taxslayer bowls and champions of life right now!

Not irreplaceable by any means.

Who couldn't get production from Kamara? So that was not a feat.

I've often wondered who decides RB rotation during a game, the HC or the position coach. I imagine it is position coach with input from the HC during prep week.

Either way, Kamara was used too little. Not sure what percent falls on Jones and what percent on RG.

Comparing two things that don't leave good taste. Still doesn't look good on the surface.

True. However, I know he was a longtime HS coach, did he ever cross paths with some of these other guys we have on staff? You never know with some of these guys and why they'd want to move schools.

I think he's less likely than others but he'd be an amazing steal.

From the Georgia page he worked at Georgia southern prior to uga and spent a year at Auburn, his alma mater, in 2013. I remember a bunch of Georgia fans freaking out when smart elected to go with him over Thomas brown, but it obviously worked out well.

Im going with contract issues. Sounds like he was only guaranteed thru the end of next season, and the rest of the coaches have 3 year deals
