I have a hard time putting a whole lot into how we do againgt WKU's spread. They might be the worst team in college football but at the same time isn't this the first year in D1?

Wow. I don't know where to begin. I agree that the Vols are thin at positions. And the QB question is yet to be resolved. But the picture he paints of probable utter failure is w/o merit or substantiation.

Has he even been to a practice? Based on what he's written, I suspect not or he would know their is a healthy competition among 4 RBs right now. Has he seen Oku's performance? He's not even mentioned though coaches are raving about him. But, the general feeling among those close to the team is that Hardesty is at his best and will be our premiere back this season.

Regarding Hamilton, I'm not familiar with the going-rate for ADs a major universities. However, I expect his salary is in the ball park. Considering the renewed energy around the football program, the productivity of the men's basketball team, the ongoing upgrade of our facilities and the support being garnered from major donors, I think he'll probably earn his keep.

As for the Heisman comments, the writer shows his lack of insight or refusal to acknowledge the benefits of the Berry campaign. This is marketing 101. A recognized brand (UT) is promoted with a respected product (Berry) to re-energize the fan base and increase recognition among potential recruits. UT is not targeting voters. They are going after two types of consumers.

And the writer suggests that people got sick of hearing about the goodness of Manning. But then mentions the one player who's charitable actions have been hyped more than any in modern history as the frontrunner for the award in 2009? Just a bit of hypocrisy there IMO.

Sorry for the long rant. I'm a bit tired of members of the media, especially those in TN, reporting unbalanced stories about the Vols.

If I was a monkey in a cage, and I was shown that article. I would've scratched my head and peed on it.

Nice transition into a totally unrelated subject...

Western's defensive line is questionable, so Tennessee's yardage production will be no indicator of things to some. Coach Lane Kiffin gets a break opening against perhaps the worst Division I team in America. The game will be televised by the new SEC Network at 11:20 a.m.

Vol fans should be insensed over the outrageous salary increase given to athletics director Mike Hamilton, who's main contribution to Vol sports is a spiraling debt which the program may not be able to retire if Kiffin falls on his face.

If Hamilton is worth $600,000 a year in 2009-10, I'm a Chinese astronaut. But keep in mind the logic, the more Hamilton pays his coaches, the more the administration is likely to pay Hamilton — until the crash occurs.

Then, it'll be too late to undue mistakes of the past.

He went from talking about the game to slamming Hambone and his salary...

Talk about stream of consciousness... :post-4-1090547912:

The title of the article is "QBs still a question mark for Vols", yet he only devotes half a sentence in the second paragraph on the subject. :dunno:

The offense is highly questionable because of an uncertain quarterback situation, an untested and thin offensive line and a wave of injuries at wide receiver. The best thing about this offense is its corps of running backs. Montario Hardesty will start, but I suspect the starting job will go to true freshman Bryce Brown by the time the Florida game arrives on Sept. 19.

That writer sounds like my bitter Vandy-fan brother-in-law (unless he's become a born-again Florida fan like his son has recently done).

What a flippin negative Nancy... Is that the same guy who got crossways with Fulmer and/or the UTAD a few years ago when all that Benzel-Myers stuff was going on? :cray:

Noticed that too. So tebow will win the heistman for the reason Peyton lost? He's contradicting himself.

I don't expect much out of bloggers, but isn't this guy published?
