A day-off smile (or I hope it is.)
I drew a cartoon panel that frequently referenced football and Tennessee, and which used to cause me to catch hell from my clients in Texas. That was when the folks in Austin were saying the SEC was overrated.
Recently I have been republishing the old That's Jake cartoons at a web site called Substack (jakevest.substack.com) and I ran across this one. It is a photo of a drawing that somebody sent to me. It is obviously in a frame propped up against a window because you can see another building across the street. Apparently it was from when South Carolina joined because one of the stickers says, "I'll Hate South Carolina Pretty Soon." That turned out to be true.
It also says "Vanderbilt Football...Yeah, Sure." Oops. Never saw that quarterback coming.

Did these use to somehow get printed in the News Sentinel? I remember they had cartoons like this on gameday and the following Monday.
"Dyer-Grams"! They were awesome, another Tennessee tradition. Here's a short summary of Bill Dyer:
A former all-conference football lineman at Washington & Lee, Dyer had a love of sports and his Dyergram, which appeared in Sunday's newspaper after the Vols played football, was a must read for all Big Orange lovers. The Dyergram was a game recap drawn through a cartoonist's eye as the game progressed.

Thank you. I was afraid my memory was making stuff up (again).
