I'm muddling through on easy. My kids are both pretty good, Jordan on hard with almost 90% hit...

there are going to be some pretty good tunes on the 80's Encore version. A few of the songs are going to be by the original artists ("I Wanna Rock" by Twisted Sister and "I Ran" by A Flock of Seagulls are confirmed) and GH3 (which is coming to PS2, yay!) will have nearly every song performed by the original artist.

Yeah, I finally played and I, yes, it is very great. It will be much better with the original artists though.

I am still on easy but i average a 97% on everything so far and i am up to the 6th level. I just did "cant you hear me knocking" by the Stones. Very hard but i am pretty good.

Go to medium. If you're hitting 97% percent, skip the rest and get to the fun stuff.

Is the only difference from easy to medium the blue button being added???

Blue button and the number of the notes. You'll be playing more of the actual guitar part.

Hard adds the fifth button and just about all the notes from the guitar part.

Expert adds a few more notes and 3 color chords.

there's no official way, but there are ways to import and play songs on the 360.

I'm on the final set of songs in Expert Mode.... it's impossibly difficult !

I just went to medium and i dont understand how some of this stuff is supposed to be done.

How can your fingers move so fast???

It's all about using the hammer on's and Pull off's in hard and expert mode. These allow you to only have to push the fret buttons and not worry about strumming for certain parts of the song (mainly fast transitions and solos). Of course, timing is everything. It's hard to spot them at first, but after a while, it becomes like second nature.

You can HO/PU notes without a black circle on them. This info should help you spot areas for using HO/PUs.

Also work on finger positioning. In medium mode, you have 4 buttons to work with, so assign a finger to each button and leave it there! It should feel kinda odd using your pinky finger at first, but you'll get used to it. Focus on knowing where your fingers are and moving them as little as possible.

I dont understand hammer ons and pull offs.

check out the tutorials...i think it is under "advanced techniques" or something like that. It is relatively easy to pick up the technique, it's recognizing when you can use it and getting your timing down that is really hard (at least for me). Hammer ons and Pull offs are just when you are holding a fret button down and strum on a note, and their is another quick note after that, you can release the original fret button and hit the other fret button without strumming and it will still play the note. example: there is a blue note followed immediately by a yellow note, strum on the blue then quickly let off the blue and press on the yellow without strumming and it should play. I think the notes have to be the ones right next to each other for it to work, but I'm not sure. The tutorial will explain it a lot clearer than I just did, so run through that and practice it some. :)

Thanks. If that works, it will help alot.

Check this picture out. Notice how the red note has an all white circle at the top? That is a hammer on. All regular notes have a white circle with a black outline. That's how you distinguish the two.

You'll soon find that you can sometimes play entire solos and transitions by only strumming once :) Of course, timing must be flawless.

And just to be complete, you can strum hammer on notes...you just don't have to once you get good at it.

sweeet! That dude's damn good. YYZ is one of the easier songs in expert IMO- but that solo in the middle is pretty nasty!
