Getting to six wins on the regular season would be a coup for Pruitt

2 years until we talk about him being on the hot seat? Ummmm....no. Pruitt inherited this s&@t show and our talent level is so low right now it’s ridiculous. We need stability and credibility brought back to UT. We have officially become the laughing stock of the SEC, and pretty much the entire college football world (especially after that cluster f of a coaching search). Pruitt can get the job done, but I can guarantee you it ain’t gonna happen in 2 years. Thanks to our last 2 wannabe coaches and crappy ADs, we are in a deep dark hole. We will climb out....but not by canning Pruitt after 2-3 years or talking about anybody being on the “hot seat”. Let the man do his job and leave him alone. Sit back....relax.....and support the team and the staff. They need it.

I agree! It's been rough and where I live in KS, people have given me crap of comparing us to KU. That's not us, Pruitt is a great recruiter and has brought in some great talent. BUT, while the previous coaching staff, as its been mentions millions of times before, the talent wasn't enforced or encouraged, but forced to fit what they wanted. Pruitt will do well, and with Fulmer as AD, I have no worries. The man bleeds orange just as much as anyone. We need to like BigCountryVol said, sit back and support the team & Staff!

When you're at the bottom there is more room for improvement. It's like fat people, if a fat guy works put 2x a day for 3 months to get in shape, he is going to have larger results than someone already in decent shape.

What if the person in decent shape works out just like the fat person, check mate

If Pruitt doesn't go 6-6 and make a bowl game, it will be a huge disappointment. We have 5 built in wins this year, then beat Mizzu at home. That, IS NOT, too much to ask for a first year coach with Pruitt's pedigree.

Agree. Would be so nice to have a coach hit or *gasp* even exceed expectations in year 1 instead of falling short and having our fan base spout of a litany of excuses as to why it was ok.

As long as Pruitt matches Butch’s trends in the first 3 years, I will be happy. Me personally, I think we get to 6-7 wins this year. The Butch trend of 5-7/7-6/9-4 in 3 years was good. I feel like that is the baseline for Pruitt as long as there aren’t major coaching issues or coaching debacles in games.

I predicted 6-6 and stick to it. What’s funny is before the season started I was called pessimistic and now I’m called optimistic even though my prediction is the same. I dont see it as either, I see it as realistic. Just like a new coach doesn’t suddenly make us a great team, one loss to what appears to be good team does not make us a terrible team.

There are no built-in wins. Every one must be earned,

Im amazed after 1 game to an underrated WV and potential Heisman that its so doom and gloom. Sure other teams will make small gains because they are ahead of us now but I think we have the most gains to make. I just hope this years team doesnt get on here and read what losers they are and how they should just fold it in. How can we expect these 18/19 yo men to step up and be leaders if we arent? Encourage this team to be more and win!

We have 3 built in wins. I'll let you know about the other 3 after the USCe game, and we see how healthy we are down the home stretch.

5-7. I've seen nothing to indicate otherwise.

Its called realism.

I’m not convinced this team and coaching staff can win 4 much less 5.

There is talent on this team especially on offense they just can’t play conservative football like they did last week.

UT had the talent to make the game last week a shoot out had they opened up the offense and thrown the ball down the field.

Until the defense gets better UT will have to rely on JG and aggressive play calling to win.

An interesting stat on Lock I read was that last season against teams with winning records his completion % was only 52% and his TD/INT ratio was 11/7. So his stats were greatly inflated against bad teams.

The bad news of course, is that we were one of those bad teams that he inflated his stats against, and will likely not have a winning record going into that game.
Same thing with Grier last season and look how that turned out.

I don't know about wins and losses, but I expect to see a team that gets better every week learning a new system. If they progress quickly, 6 or 7 is certainly on the table. If not we could be a 5 win team.

Next year no excuses. We need a decent bowl next year

Sorry but no. UT has more talent than more than 6 of its remaining opponents. Excuses and calling underachievement success is how Jones survived. UT will never get out of this abyss until we stop excusing failure to perform

The best thing Pruitt has going for him is Fulmer. Fulmer knows what it takes to win. He knows what talent looks like and he knows what practice habits it takes to win. He will watch games/practice/players and decide when it is time for a new coach. I trust Fulmer, he is a championship coach and a learning AD but he BLEEDS ORANGE and WHITE and that is enough for me.

A lot of people really believe that the reason Coach Pruitt will not be really successful is Fulmer. He can’t let control go

I’m at the game and ETSU is causing our O line problems, making our offense suck. 6 games will be a huge accomplishment with this OL.
