Getting ready to play the "never give up"

This speech put sports in perspective and illustrates the amazing place it occupies in American society at the same time. Jimmy V is a saint.

I love everything espn has done for cancer awareness and I believe that the coaches vs cancer tournament is great, but I have almost become numb to it because espn plays the speech at just about every turn.

The speech is beautiful and Jimmy V deserves a huge amount of respect, but I feel like I have seen it so many times that it just doesn't resonate as much as it used to.

You're welcome to your opinion of course but, as I said, it gets me every time. I think it's a good idea to play the speech once a year at the Coaches vs Cancer Tournament to keep the cause in front of everybody and keep everybody fired up in their lives.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, I think it's great what they are doing and cancer awareness is great. I just feel like it's overplayed, and it might be my perception based on youtube.

Just remember three things, men. You only need to think of these three things in order to be successful. Your family, your religion, and the Green Bay Packers.

That always makes me laugh even though I know it's coming.

I remember watching it live with my ex. Both of us touched, she just lost her granny & my grampa to cancer, tore us up. Still emotional watching Jimmy V today.
And Vols85, sucks to be you. Heartless jaded puke. Sorry, I remember when I was 17 too and it was all about instant gratification.

I'm not even sure where to start with this response...Heartless? Jaded? You don't even know me, and you don't know my life. You don't think I've had family or friends affected by cancer? My uncle died of brain cancer, my best friend's mother fought breast cancer for 8 years, only to succomb. I had to sit there and watch my listless and hopeless friend at his mother's funeral, and he has never been the same. For you to say those things are beyond classless.

I, too, have seen the wretch of cancer. It is a disgusting sickness, and I wish it upon no one.

I don't know what you thought you were reading in my post, but you got it wrong buddy.

"Cancer can take away all of my physical abilities. It cannot touch my mind, it cannot touch my heart, and it cannot touch my soul. And those three things are going to carry on forever."

My favorite sports-related quote ever. Helluva man.

It is such a classless stunt to hurl insults at people in a thread where people are pouring out their hearts.

Sorry for your losses too. But a dying mans plight deserves more than your... "overplayed" comment. Goodnight junior.

Why do you keep addressing his age? Just because people are young doesn't mean they don't have feelings...I personally am 23 and tear up everytime I see that speech.

I gotta agree with Vols85 on this one...but I love how volger shows his softer by slinging insults just because he has an opinion...perhaps V85 isn't the only Heatless and Jaded person on this board?...oh yeah this is a forum for discussion...biut I digress.
