Getting pumped up only to be disappointed

Um, no. I meant one of the truly elite classes in the nation. Texas is going to finish with a top 5 class, and maybe as high as 2nd. In addition to that, they flat out DESTROYED the Big XII in recruiting this year. If we don't get Wright we're likely going to end up 6th in the SEC. We've got some great signees, but at the end of the day we're still lagging behind most of the teams we're looking up at in the standings each and every year. Until we can best them in recruiting, it's going to be a lot of the same on Saturday's in the fall.

We will have very close to a top 10 class this year. Combine that with a top 10 class last year, and what was a top 10 class in 2009 before the kiffin attrition.

If we keep signing those types of classes we will be competing for the SEC title year in year out. You are seriously saying that because rivals gives a few more points for a few more kids that the classes ahead of us on their list are significantly better??

We met our needs extremely well this year, you can't be disappointed with this class.

And who gives a crap about texas? They should land the best class in the big 12 year in year out, they have the best destination city of any school in the conference, the most money in the conference and the most talent rich state in the conference. They still lose to Oklahoma more often than not.

I'm thrilled to have the players signed that we do, but it is hard not to be disappointed with Dawson and Jernigan. Hope we can somehow get Wright and hold onto Maggitt, which doesn't sound likely.
We're losing Maggitt????

Really?? Even without those guys we've got a great class that fills needs and improves the athleticism of our team. I don't think there is anything to be disappointed about seeing as where we were just 365 days ago. Just think that if we're getting a class like this with just a year's worth of relationship building and for the youngsters getting to know our coaching staff, what could the future look like??? :hi:

Is someone seriously whining over being ranked a couple of spots behind somebody else? That's "lagging behind"?

All Texas has to do to get an elite class every year is offer the 26 Texas HS kids they like best at their junior camp every year; 25 of them will commit on the spot. Mack Brown never has to leave Austin. It's crazy to act like the job Dooley has to do in Tennessee even has the same job description as what recruiting to Texas is like.

I wasn't saying that the two jobs were in any way comparable in difficulty. Somebody had just mentioned that Texas wasn't disappointed today in spite of having no signing day surprises, and I simply pointed out that they didn't need any surprises because they already have one of the most elite classes in the country and have for months. For UT to have any chance at breaking into that elite group we were going to need a few surprises, and it looks like we aren't going to get any. While we've signed some big names, unless something comes up later today, we're on our way to yet another middle of the pack class in the SEC. That's where the disappointment stems from, seeing these schools that have been wearing us out on the field the last few years continuing to get a leg up on us by signing superior talent in February as well.

If you are disappointed in this class we signed, you need to get up from the computer and go get in front of a mirror and slap yourself, to clear your mind. You have been sitting in front of the comp way to long.

Five SEC schools recruited better than we did, but but but... one year ago our program was in complete turmoil. Next year will be the first year we've had some consistentcy in our coaching staff in back to back years in a while. With all the problems we've had throughout the past three years I think a top 15 class is something to get very excited about. Especially since Dooley locked down the state of Tennessee and kept two huge prospects in state. Something that Fulmer could not seem to do at the end of his career. WE ARE BACK! GO VOLS!

Fulmer could not keep the top in state players his entire coaching tenture, let alone the end.

Carson's LOI is in, and Wright is announcing at 1:30 on ESPNU. I hate losing Dawson, but if we stopped right now, I'm happy. If we get Wright, I'll be thrilled with this class. The coaching staff should be highly commended. This is a really good class. Stars, we filled a lot of depth with our 3* linemen. There are very few 5*'s, and not many 4 stars on linemen. If we get Wright, that would give us 28 which will be a workable number to deal with.

This is exactly what they do. If one of those Top 25 guys declines, they go get the 26th best guy. Recruiting at Texas is a JOKE.

Dawson didn't wanna have the mob at his house if he signed with us. So he chose "that coach" on the west coast. I for one am pumped about this class. We finish 6-7 and coming out with a potential top 15 class? As keyshawn johnson would say "COME ON MAN!"

Maybe so... None of that is what I was responding to. I said we would have one of the best classes in the nation. We will.

For a program with the recent instability that we have had and the need to rebuild, we should be thankful for a top 10-12 recruiting class and stop finding things to complain about.

Or... We could convince ourselves that the sky has already fallen and the glass is half full of urine. Me, I'll choose to celebrate a great class. You're free to do whatever you want. :hi:

Don't usually watch that NFL show, but I thought it was Chris Carter. Am I off base?

It's been a good last couple days. Good class, with one still left on the board.
CDD did well.

I don't know why people get all jacked up about mystery big fish that somehow stealthily avoided being seen swimming in the Tennessee River EVERY year.

We have a good class. The last 3 days have been amazing.

Be realistic and you'll enjoy these days more.

There is no Santa claus, tooth fairy, god, or magical mystery recruits.

Those Guys had visited/camped at some point, and were at least on the radar. We have fans literally expecting a top 150 commit to materialize.
