Getting man handled

A win that will drop us out of the top ten for sure. We really should not be there anywho. I would rank us about 17th or so. Va Tech will tell us all we need to know. SEC east champs- I doubt it.

Do the rankings matter? Or does where the selection committee ranks us matter?

As bad as a win can look. The defense got better as the game went on, one touchdown on a short field, and one on a blown coverage where Vereen peeled off and covered a RB on a wheel route. Our offense looked horrible. Any time we were behind the chains, besides Josh Malone's first catch, we sputtered and stalled. Their front 7 was beating us more often than not, and we didn't have the confidence to pass over them. Discouraging win, but a win, at least. I remember squeaking by Syracuse in an opener once upon a time...that's the best positive spin I can put on it, other than maybe that this team obviously needed to be brought down to earth sooner rather than later.

That was a pretty good Syracuse team with McNabb. This was bad.

We played horribly but will learn from it. What happened with that team that squeaked by Syracuse by the way?

But do you remember 98 season, Ark. handed us a win!!! I agree we played bad, being nice, its a long season and we're 1-0 until next week. ONE game at a time !!!!! ONE win !!! at a time , KEEP playing hard GO VOLS !!!!:clapping::birgits_giggle::lolabove::dance2:

Yeah the coaches are responsible for Sutton fumbling, Maybin getting ejected, Dobbs interception but they are responsible for the team coming out flat and poor game planning.

I cannot get over this post. Dude Thats the definition of coaching. NONE of those plays should have happened

Would our players played any better if saban and his staff had a whole.off season to work with? Your opinion

Could we possibly not talk abut alabama for like 3 days. We Are Tennesssee. and proud. But we are not or will never be Alabama.

So much for watching this game throughout the week till next Saturday. No reason for this game to take up space on my dvr. App St. is a good team. They're ranked #43 in division 1. Probably only one loss team that will move up in rankings. They will win Sun Belt Conference. Still no excuses for this game to be this close and get man handled the way we did. We will drop in the rankings. 12-16 is where we will fall.

Wrong. Every play is on the coaches. You think its JRMs Fault ???? We Were exposed in every manner.

Wow...Quit doubling down on your silliness. These guys are seniors and team captains. Their lack of execution and leadership is definitely on them.

I liked your comment. But the simple fact of us performing should go directly thru coaching. Seniors and Captains that have proven absolutley NOthing man

I knew we would win. But i bet alot of these guys on here gave up. Simple. we could be better with JG or QD

what surprised me the most about this game:
1. We were manhandled on both lines of scrimmage. No excuse!
2. Our offensive play calling was HORRIBLE. It either changes or DeBord must go!
3. Bob Shoop may be a great D-Coord. Vs. traditional pro style offenses, but he didn't have a clue how to stop all of the mis-direction that App. St. Was running
4. Josh Dobbs looks like he has regressed and played more like a freshman than a Sr
5. A win is a win. However, at this point My prediction has changed from 10-2 to 7-5

What any fool should have seen coming:

1. Everybody thought Appy State would be a good little Sunbelt team and roll over to us, take their beating, and go back to Boone with their payday. That didn't happen, and now every arrogant Vols fan needs a years supply of Tucks medicated pads to overcome the butt hurt.

2. For however much players talk about how much they don't listen to hype, it was obvious that is not true for the entire team. A few small mistakes early snowballed into confusion and poor maturity. Robertson and Thomas threw some really half hearted blocks, and so did Hurd on that inside stunt he and one of the linemen double teamed.

3. Appy State's conditioning killed them. Tennessee's conditioning was solid. Nobody in orange cramping up. We did something important very right.

4. Anyone who doesn't think this feels like 98 has poor memory. In 98, we felt this sense of panic every week, but the team focused on the next opponent despite the rantings of idiots. We survived. Go take your medicine, drink your Maalox, change your underwear, and get ready for VA Tech. Now to go get a copy of KNS, and urinate on John Adams picture.

You must not have been around for the game where we missed about 15 tackles on one play under Dooley.

Was it this one?
