Well guys, today I officially get my first shot at being a GM. It will be at a small town Domino's and I have worked with the owner before. I believe in myself to do the job I know I can do. So just wanted to ask some of you guys that are manager's yourselves for some advice and what to expect. All advice is welcome and say a patience prayer for me as well if you don't mind. :peace2:

Good luck bro..in my experience if you treat everyone fairly and let them know your expectations and where they stand you'll be fine...also if you have to manage some that are "friends" with you..just let them know it's not personal...they'll respect you more.

You know NC, I have never been one to actually want to work with my friends. I'm not completely against it, but I find that friendships stay on the up and up when it's not mixed with business. That's not to say that it don't work, I just don't like it.

My advice, take any manuals HR or whoever gives you on how to deal with people and flush them down the toliet. Most people prefer to succeed and will do good work for you if you let them know your expectations.

Congratulations. Here is some serious advice that you can take or leave.

1) Give your employees clear expectations, trust them to be successful, and hold them accountable
2) Don't treat everyone the same (sounds strange I know) because people react differently to how they are managed and there is no "always right" way to do it
3) Give credit to your employees for success and let them know on a regular basis that they are appreciated.

Best of luck and God bless.
