Getting Gruden would finally erase the pain Kiffin left

Personally, Gruden would be a fantastic recruiter. That's basically what he's been doing for the last several years with quarterbacks. If you guys wanna keep CDD so bad, that's your opinion. But I think he needs to go and we need excitement in the program. We are definitely due for some.

Just the rumor of a new coach, even Gruden, has me more excited about UT football than any time since the Florida debacle.

Another thing: if this season plays out as expected and Dooley gets another year, will anyone be excited about the 2013 season? Doubtful.

But if Gruden comes on board & recruits well, the excitement level at the beginning of the 2013 season will be off the charts.

So for comparisons sake Dooley should get about 3 more seasons?

I was being a little sarcastic. Someone mentioned his great record at Oakland, but failed to add his mediocre record at TB.

I don't know how Gruden will be as a college HC, I know Saban was great in college but failed in the Pro's same thing goes for Spurrier, but if Gruden does come to TN, I hope he's very successful tired feeling like crap every Saturday.

I'm on the fence with Dooley but I do think Dooley deserves 1 more year if he wants it with no excuses though. He has to win 9/10 games no crap about injuries, players not performing or any other BS. If not send him on his way and lets get a winner and thank him for his work.

Nobody misses Kiffin it's just the way he left. Should've never been our coach to begin with.

I miss Kiffin every time I look at Derek Dooley. Of course, I also miss being kicked in the balls that one time when I look at Derek Dooley.

Even if Gruden were to come to UT he wont coach 5 yrs here...another NFL job will open up and we will be left hanging just when we have turned the corner.......so I dont see him coming....hes not on the level with Saban or Meyer or coaches like that....

Gruden will get a fair chance just like Dools to turn this program around. I'm not expecting a great season next year and I'm expecting bad if Dooley returns.

So what happens if Gruden does come, and doens't have it turned around in say... 2 yrs. you gonna be yelling for his scalp too?

i really cant beleive that half of this fan base actually thinks Gruden will EVER be our coach. Im sure everyone else gets a good chuckle about us thinking it will come true.

Thank you. What on earth is going on with this. This foolishness is on the verge of overtaking the Rod Wills stories. Why would anyone believe this? Please help with something concrete.

Actually, I could see us being a better team next yr and winning some real games. Keep some of the NFLers as seniors, get the D to understand what they are doing, give staff a yr to gel. Would have to be pretty decent IMO.

I guess coach rumor and speculation is once again allowed on the football forum.

ok... so gruden walks into a recruits house that has previously committed to saban. he takes his sunglasses off and looks at them with his mean face. The recruit then changes their mind and commits to UT.

THAT!:rock::rock:

To fire Dooley this year and his Asst., then buyout Gruden from his 5 year deal with espn, then hire him and the Asst. he wants........

Tennessee will be paying over 15 mil when its all said and done........

like ive said in other post about Gruden.........Stop dreaming!

When is the last time Gruden coached? How about coached college? Recruited? Don't get the Gruden slurp fest. SMH
You're the only one with a slurpage problem. Your bromance with Dooley has made you sheepish. We simply want to get the problem fixed sooner rather than later.

Where did I say that Dooley is the guy? I just don't get the Gruden love. After reading all these posts, I still don't.

We all hate Kiffin for what he did, but there's no doubt that he brought excitement to the program the one year that he was here and had us competing in every game except for Ole Miss. Gruden coming here would finally erase the pain he left behind because Gruden would bring great excitement and he would be able to recruit like crazy. I don't think we would have to worry about him bolting ships either because in a way, he's a Tennessee guy.

Jon Gruden will be here BECAUSE Lane Kiffin left. And for that, I will always have a soft spot in my heart for Lane Kiffin.
