Getting excited for Dooley

La Tech's program was complete and under **** when dooley took over. terrible facilities. terrible fan support... awful in every way. dooley takes them to a bowl win in TWO YEARS!!!!!

they had A TON of key injuries this past year and still played the #7 team in the country tough.

given who has turned us down in the past 48 hours... i'm ok with this hire. i like it MUCH better than cutcliff. don't judge dooley by his record this past year. he's young, energetic with GREAT experience for his age (NFL, recruiting coordinator for Saban)

worst case... we hire cutcliff for 4 years of 8-5... best case... dooley is an under the radar star who puts us back on top in 4 years.

This isn't the home run we wanted, but I think a good hire. Lets just hope, he proves himself here, then Georgia fires Richt and Dooley leave for "the only place that he would leave here for"

I think this hire might work out and result in great things. What is Dooley missing? He just isn't some name guy like Lovie Smith or Gruden or Dungy or whoever else. That is all. he has the credentials and he grew up around SEC football. Plus he knows how to recruit and has NFL experience. We might have just gotten a major bargain. He would have serious character issues to accept and lobby for this job and want to be anywhere else. He seems like a man with character.

If in fact we have hired this guy, i will have no choice but to get behind him. However, i will also have a prove me wrong attitude. I think we have made a terrible mistake, i hope i am wrong and we can win with this guy, he seems like a smart guy, i just think Saban and CUM will take his lunch money from him on a regular basis.

worst hire ever. I honestly hope he is not getting a pay raise to coach here. Send this boy home PAINT THE ROCK!!!

:nono:Why start on the man before he is given a chance. He was man enough to take the job, with it in the mess it's in right this moment. He is the Coach of the TENNESSEE VOLUNTEERS and I for one am behind him 100% GO VOLS!!

dooley will NEVER be the HC at UGA as long as dr. adams is the president.... like someone else said... there is serious hatred between adams and the dooley family.

i'm glad we have a guy who knows SEC country and hates UGA.

He was the recruiting coordinator at LSU with Saban when they brought in the #1 class, twice. People might want to do research and save the knee-jerk reaction for the other idiots on the board.

Exactly.. Saban disciple, with experience recruiting in the SEC and experience in the NFL.

Jimmy Johnson was 8-5 at OK st before miami took him and that turned out well.

I like this move better than Cutcliffe:

1. If he sucks in 3 years then you replace him with no second thoughts and have a more talented pool of candidates available

2. If he is good then you just got an up and coming coach on the cheap

3. Cutcliffe's tenure hear would be 5-8 years of Fulmore light.. one good season followed by 3-4 mediocre ones

I love idiotic fans that think all that matters is winning the press conference. If you actually care to do research there is a lot to him that screams serious potential. Very smart, has a law degree. Only person to serve as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director in the country. Recruiting coordinator at LSU with Saban when they were bringing in ridiculous classes. Who knows if he will work out. But it is certainly not a lost cause.

If we run off three years of losing records, you really thing more talented candidates will be knocking down the door?

These things are self-fulfilling spirals, either upward or downward.

Either way, Volquest needs to take down that picture off their front page where Dooley looks "special."

Shoot me now, we just hired some loser from the WAC. If he was so damn special, why didn't Saban bring him to Bama with him? Saban left this joker in the dust. We're screwed.

Because that's the way coach fans are. Team/school fans wait to see how things play out.

Amen brother.

Objectively, looks like a decent hire. If he did have a major hand in LSU's recruiting classes, which is a reasonable assumption given he was the recruiting coordinator, I'll give him a couple of years before I start calling for the broom. Plus the seasonal stat comparisons from the bulldog site indicates he might not be a slouch with the X's and O's either.
