Get The Ball To The Playmakers

My biggest fear is that Poole is our best RB but he doesn't get the carries because he's a frosh. I understand that there is a LOT more to being a RB than running the ball, but c'mon...if you've got a guy that's better than everyone else, he needs to get a lot of carries.

From the reports I read, he's probably our best back HANDLING the ball.

He has had about 20 carries in 3 scrimmages. He hasn't had a carry in a game and you think he's the best back?

Love spring time. Hope is in the air.

no, no, no, it's Love is in the air
In the whisper of the trees
Love is in the air
In the thunder of the sea

Love is in the air
Everywhere I look around
Love is in the air
Every sight and every sound

Tauren only fumbled 2 times in high school with well over 800 carries during his 4 years. He is a workhorse when carrying the ball and he'll make a lot of tacklers miss. I'm not saying he's any better than the other backs, but if he doesn't get plenty of carries this year, I'll be surprised.

Here we go again! Last year it was Monterio and Toker were better than a proven Foster, oh and Creer. This year it's gonna be Creer and Poole are better than a proven Foster. How bout giving UT's future all-time leading rusher some love. We have a workhorse that can carry 20+ times and can catch 5+ times out of the backfield and his name is Arian Foster. Let him work.

see the fumble at PSU, some people have a hard time forgetting that along with his others. AF has seemingly always had a hard time holding on to the ball.

I can only think of the PSU fumble, the SC fumble last year that almost cost us the game, and the missed exchanges @ Cal and @ UF, which were probably more Ainge's fault. But you're right it's probably the Outback one that people will never forgive him for.

Personally I like his work ethic, his running style, and his blocking. Heard rumors of him dropping some more weight and working on quickness. We could see a BIG year from him IMO.

The Florida fumble is the one that stands out to me...

It was 20-28 at that point and we had the ball...

After that...well...we all know what happened...our entire team gave up at that point...

I nkow it wasn't all his fault...and I think the good he has done out weighs the bad....but he has had several fumbles at very bad times that alot of people have a hard time fogetting

Not saying AF doesn't have troubles, but the UF fumble was the result of a backhanded slap by Ainge

Yeah it was definitely a bad play by Ainge...but it was also placed right in Foster's "bread basket"...

Just an all around bad exchange...

I'm not trying to relive the glory days...but I was a pretty decent RB in highschool and that exact thing happened a couple of times to me...I can assure you my coaches didn't let my end of it slide...

Regardless of any of that... I still think he's an excellent back and should carry the load this year...

But I do believe that his fumbleitis is the main reason alot of people have never jumped on his bandwagon

I'm trying to remember how well Arian did in 2006.. He was injured most of his sophomore year, right? Not necesarilly sidelined, but had a nagging injury for most of it right? Were his numbers that impressive in 2006?

I'm an AF fan, but am just wondering if he ever had a complete break out year, or if one reason why he is going to be UT's all time rushing leader stems more from the fact that he has had 4 years to do so....

I guess if he had a "break out" year it was 2005...he was an unknown RS freshman and when the "great" Gerald Riggs Jr. (at least in his mind) went down we all thought we were screwed...then AF pulled off 5-6 straight 100 yard games including 1-2 200 yard games...

He was then injured a good portion of the following year...last year was very good for him with 1100+ yards but I don't know anyone who thinks it was awesome...I mean...if he matched the numbers he put up as a freshman for all 12 games he would have about 1600-1700+ yards...

That would be nice...and I honestly expect something like that from him this year barring some sort of injury

The love/like with qualifications/hate deal with Arian amazes me.

There was a thread some months ago where the love was abundant. I pointed out that a lot of people have been giving him a hard time for a long time, and got booed out of the gym.

For the record. I love the guy. Toughness and determination, and he's played where others could not. A Volunteer, plain and simple. No qualifications here.

He had a sprained ankle in 2006 and was also suspended for the first half of the Arkansas game.

Granted our entire offense looked incredible, but I thought he particularly looked great against GA last year... Everytime I think of him I think of the spin move he made on the GA safety to get into the end zone... man that was awesome haha... Also scoring on the first play of the game against KY wasn't too shabby either...
