Get Onboard if You're a VOL

Likewise, the 100 or so VN posters who post and cry day and night about how horrible this staff and team and the situation are will have little or nothing to do with what happens with the program going forward. Doesn't slow you and the other whiners on here much, though, does it?
You’re right. No one’s posts here have nothing to do with wins and losses. So it shouldn’t be an excuse for the coaches or the fans that have illusions of grandeur.

What the hell are you talking about? A few people on a message board posting their opinions on something they know little to nothing about, or the 70-80 thousand that show up to the games that many here say are the problem?

Lol.
Specifically I was talking about the OP. He specifically stated there are players that won’t get with the program, that he believes in the mercenary at the top, and will do so until Fulmer gives him the ok to do otherwise.

He’s not the Lone Ranger either. There are a host of fans that are more willing to blame the players that are here, languishing under another failing coach, rather than the failing coach himself.

Just an observation on misplaced loyalty.

I’m with you OP.

And I’ll cheer harder if #2 dosen’t see another snap.

I’ll scream the whole time vs Georgia if #18 joins #2 on the bench.

There's plenty of blame to go around on both the players and the coaches.

I’m with Boro. No need to make it personal. These players are trying.

@EZE

2 & 18 aren’t. Nothing against them as people, but as players.....Will just be hard to cheer for either of those players on the field at this point.

The 2 of them absolutely have been the reason Tennessee is 1-3.

I’m not a fan of JG, and have expressed opinions of his obvious shortcomings. Him being in the game to demonstrate those shortcomings is not his fault however. These professional coaches develop, and put the players in situations to succeed or fail. The kids are here to play ball and get an education.

I’m confounded by those that will blame the players, and defend the millionaires that may not be here in 2 years if a better offer comes along.

Well start doing it again! What are you waiting for?
I accept full blame for this season. I have failed the team, the coaches, the fans, and brought great dishonor upon my family name.

At the Georgia game I promise to stand the whole game, scream till my vocal chords are bloody, and question, loudly, Kirby Smart’s family heritage. Specifically, whether or not his parents were married at the time of his conception.

It’s okay to point out players’ deficiencies, but there is a line that gets crossed on here a lot.

And, yes, it ultimately lies at the feet of the coaches. They either need to coach a player up or put in a different player.

Also, how in the world can anybody say they have “100% confidence in coach Pruitt and his staff?”

I mean, what would it take to move you down to even 99% after what we’ve witnessed?

100% is a stretch, yes, but I don’t think you have to look too hard to determine that Pruitt just has bad players on his roster. His best players (aside from the WR Corp) are the players he brought in.

Daniel Bituli is supposed to be our Star LB, I think Henry T plays better ball.

Nigel should be our best guy in the secondary, Bryce Thompson plays better ball.

Pruitt has done really good things in the past with really good players. Trying to make bad players do good things is something he hasn’t done yet, so the solution is to go get better players.

I was at 51% after the Vandy game. Pruitt has never done anything as a head coach, and he is showing that he is in way over his head.

I am trying to think of a player outside of the WR position that isnt a CJP recruit that is actually an SEC calibre ball player? The kicker? There arent many. I think D. Taylor is 1...that's about it. There are quite a few freshmen and sophomores that do belong here at UT...maybe 40 players total between the last 2 classes that really have a chance to be good and turn the program around.

40. Out of 85 guys....that's half a team. Compare that to our rivals ranked top 10 where their 3rd team kids are all 4 stars and most of them could start or be in the 1 deep here at UT. That's a serious problem. Then you look at our defense hand it seems we always have people out of position. That's because we play a 3-4 defense. Nobody plays that in HS. They don't have the personnel or practice time to play it. At places like Bama...kids practice for 2 hard years behind upperclassmen learning where to be and what to do before they ever see the field in a game...here we are starting 18yo kids and upperclassmen in places that have never played this scheme before. They havent had the time to learn it. These arent Rhodes scholars . They need repetition...practice...over and over to get their assignments down. They havent had time to do that. Most are brand new players straight from HS ...the most talented ones anyway. They look lost at times...because they are. It will get better...but its gonna get worse first. We will lose lore games this year than we have EVER lost before . Book it

What this team needs is 25 more kids that buy into what CJP is doing...kids like Crouch Gray Thompson and both new tackles. That and lots of practice. I bet our defense looks much better by the end of the season. Our offensive line is already much better than last year...starting 2 FRESHMEN TACKLES. That's unheard of. But we got lucky and landed 2 studs last year. This team has nowhere to go but up...and it will be a bumpy ride. I want to win as bad as anyone. It will take 2 more good recruiting classes like the last one before we are in the top half of the SEC again. Like it or not.

We can beetch and whine, some of yall can bash players and staff and maybe even hirt recruiting...but it is what it is. I have been all Vol for all of my life. I am gonna buckle up and try to enjoy the ride as much as I can while we are getting our butts kicked. I choose to focus on players like the ones that I listed above. They are good and will play NFL ball...I cant wait until we can get more like them on campus and field a good team. It is gonna be a couple years.

You dont think EVERY coach in America wants REALLY good players? Hell, one of the characteristics of being a good coach is doing the best with what you have and making them better. If you need a team of 5* players to beat Ga St then you're not much of a coach IMO

We are not up in arms about losing to SEC teams. The problem is that Pruitt cannot even beat Sun Belt and former Mountain West Conference teams, despite having more talent.

To have a TEAM it requires 100% commitment from all involved. IMO there has not been 100% commitment from several current players and if I'm right, then they need to move on. I have 100% confidence in Coach Pruitt and his staff, and I'm standing shoulder to shoulder with them until AD Fulmer says it's time to pull the plug. I'm old and have been a season ticket holder since 1970, so this is not my first rodeo. I'M 100% VFL
Can you read a defense?

Players have said there are other players that needed to step or get out, (paraphrased) we've seen it on the field.

I remember you and DTO telling everyone how much stuff was going to come out about Butch and all the crap he was doing, and how he was just terrible. I'm not saying Pruitt isn't responsible in any way, but how can you you say there isn't any "leftover" culture from all that "Stuff" you said was there?

Yea, right this minute Pruitt ain't looking to hot, but I'm not blaming everything on him. There's parents out there that don't know how to make their on kids mind.

And don't turn that on me by telling me other coaches seem to be doing fine. I understand that and don't think Pruitt is without blame.
