Gerald Jones
I must say that i am fed up with people on here getting on Jones about dropped balls and calling out the o-line. Look, he's a senior. He has weathered three, count 'em, head coaches. He's weathered four (?) offensive systems. He's played a different deck of cards every year he's been here, played hurt, rushed himself back to playing because the team needs him and on this site, our posters dog him for reasons i can't see.
Gerald Jones
Is a volunteer for life. He came in as a highly recruited WR from OK. Mainly because he wanted to play for Tennessee. And he still does. He wavered between Florida (I think?) and TN. And came here. That there is somebody we should all rally around. And when all the chips started to fall and his teammates bailed, what did he do? He stuck it out. Always spoke highly of the coaching staff that he chose and the subsequent coaching staffs that he was dealt. Never complained about what he had to do as a player or about helping the others along only to drop our or get kicked off (Nukeese, etc.). He is a great leader. And a great person.
I've always liked Gerald Jones. I like how he made some great plays against alabama last year, even though they didn't show up on ESPN highlight films. If he doesn't make those plays last year, the game is not near as winnable as it turned out. Time and again he shows that he can come back and wear the orange proudly.
So for all you negaposters, negavols and negajonses (sorry), you need to take a step back and look at what he's done for the university.
I can tell you for sure that he will always represent TN well and be an ambassador for the program and will help sell TN to other high profile recruits in the midwest. I mean, someday soon, there won't be anything more than OK and TX out there to play for and the rest will go shopping.
That's all i got.
